Different, but really cool! I bet it's a monster to drive on the street.

camaro2nv 10-23-2008 10:38 AM

Holy shiet! Dont mess with a Supra!

rogue 10-23-2008 10:54 AM

That cars been complete for almost 6 months and not a single performance figure but dyno pulls.

its my understanding the owner also has:

'68 Camaro RS/SS Big Block 454 Old Fashion Carb
'69 Camaro RS/SS Big Block 502 Fuel Injected
'69 Camaro RS/SS Twin Turbocharged 383ci FI

Theres a reason theres no performance figures.

dyno queen.

The 2JZ Camaro is back and making more power than ever! Dyno Video and Quick Driving Clip! New upgrades include; aggressive stage 2 camshafts, Brian Crower Chrome Silicone Alloy Springs and Titanium Retainers, the rev limit raised to 8,500RPM, boost raised to 37psi and an open exhaust flow. The car now dynos 823RWHP which equals 1,029BHP at the motor!
20% drivetrain loss with a manual trans?

What does it run in the quarter? I'd be real interested in what the car weighs, too.

What does it have for suspension?

Rybar 10-23-2008 02:11 PM

Cool Camaro and I like it. Definately outside of the box thinking.

The exhaust tips are terrible too. And no performance numbers because he says the owner isn't interested in those performance numbers. Ha.

the guys been blowing smoke about this car for almost a year... The fact that he refuses to even pit it against one of his other 3 first gen camaros says plenty to me.... I think this cars more of a promotional tool for his company EVS than anything. It was built for shock value and dyno pulls. Nothing else. Just like MANY supras....

There are plenty of amazingly quick supras out there, but also plenty dyno queens.

SteveMcqueenRules 10-25-2008 11:33 AM

pointless.

TonyG 10-26-2008 06:19 PM

Seems like a waste of money to me when you could spend less money and have a LSX turbo'd making as much if not more.

Well we took the Camaro out on its first road trip yesterday. It was very interesting. The trip was about 200 miles one way and it did really good. We actually ran down a sport bike on the way there(he pulled up in front and wanted to run see if we could keep up. Then on the way home there was a group of about 8 more sport bikes and we were with them all the way neck and neck from a roll up to about 120 mph and we ran up on another car so had to slow down. It is amazing how the car pulls when the turbo spools up. And best part was it was only set at about 600 to 700 hp.Once the chassis is dialed in and slicks on it, it should run very well. I tried to get more pics but couldnt really take any good ones. The power this 6 cyl makes is really unbelieveable. It takes off like a rocket ship from 70 mph.

rich-allen 01-05-2009 01:58 PM

I think the back of that car looks just like a Kawasaki with those pipes.

elitecustombody 01-05-2009 02:16 PM

I'd like to see the dyno screen with some numbers,1000 hp with 2.5 inch downpipe

I don't usually post much, but a comment like this I couldn't resist. I find it entertaining that some people like to make comments on things they don't know anything about. The joy of the internet know it all. So how do you measure the downpipe on your computer monitor? Do you have some special program that allows you to put it in at the correct real life scale? What a useful too, can you share it with us? Have a nice day.

camaro2nv 01-05-2009 02:59 PM

I know people build cars to fit the owner. Someone PLEASE tell this guy to change that exhaust!

didn't mean to get you all worked up, Actually I know quite alot about 2JZ and MKIV's,I only own 5 of them, post the actual dyno results and people may stop making comments on something they actually know alot about, especially on supraforums:unibrow:

Here are some pictures for those that want to see it. These pics were before the big brake upgrade and some other exterior enhancements. It will be on Hot Rod magazine soon!

Been posted already on the other forums, just not here. I'm not saying you don't know a lot about Supras I'm sure you do. But you cannot justify the size of something based on a picture on the internet. I own several Supras as well so you and I do know the formula to make power, its understood. Have a good one.

Thanks for the nice remarks. It was a cool bunch to cruise with.

The sport bikes guys weren't quite surprised they got pulled on by a 41 year old Camaro. ;) Never seen that happen before. They were a cool bunch and brave! One of them turned sideways while riding and bowed down with both hands off the bike! Nuts!

Car is amazzzzing! Can you please email me larger pics to [email protected]
I just think when you can see the smaller exhaust pipe going into a bigger tip it just looks funny.

deuce_454 01-05-2009 04:17 PM

damn ! ill take one! only thing id change is the exhaust... everything else is super tight and clean.. the stance and look is KILLER... and then the exhaust tips just hangs down 1/4 inch too much and stick out 1/2 inch too long... its very import to have aftermarket parts "advertized" but on a 1. gen i think less is more

suggestions you say.. i would tuck two brushed or ceramic coaled 3 or 3.5 inch tailpipes and end them with a slant cut turndown... or let them exit thru the lower rear quarter

I'll post up some once the magazine is released. They really don't want me to give it too much exposure till it hits the newsstands.

We will take all your opinions into consideration. Thanks!

WSSix 01-05-2009 07:39 PM

Agreed. The exhaust just doesn't flow with the car's lines. The one picture makes it look like the angle the exhaust makes doesn't parallel the angle of the rear quarter. Maybe it's the picture though.

Another suggestion if you'd prefer to not cut on the car any more. Simple and sweet turn downs right behind the rear wheels. No tips just use stainless that won't rust or corrode. I say this because the car does not need any tips to look good. It has so much else going for it why take that attention away on exhaust tips? I'll be looking for the Hot Rod issue. Any idea on which month?

Derek Miller 01-06-2009 12:42 AM

Absolutely love the car. I have been a Supra fan for many years. I have owned my 68 camaro for about ten years now and have been saying for a long time how a Supra motor would be a great transplant into a first gen camaro. I am glad to see that someone has finally done it. The interior in the car is just amazing, one of the best custom interiors I have every seen. The only question that I have is why you didn’t mini tub the car? It would look great wearing a set of 345/25 R20s in the back :unibrow:

Flash68 01-06-2009 01:20 AM

I agree, Derek. Minitub it and throw some 335 or 345 drag radials on there and you will get some traction.

I like the all blacked out wheels.

rich-allen 01-06-2009 06:49 AM

Car looks bad ass. I love the rims and stance.

texas56 01-06-2009 07:25 AM

Hopefully if weather is good this weekend we can get some good pics and a short video out in front of the shop to show how the car performs. Looks great Ted!

This is the first car we've done with this setup. But it isn't the last one either. You'll see more improvements on future cars.

You will soon see our next project with the mini-tub and big tires up front too.

Nice. How big a tire up front?

COYBILT 01-07-2009 01:54 AM

I appreciate the effort, but I am feeling that this is heavily designed by a tuner.

I am just trying to keep quiet on this one, I am just in shock still.
