Best sticky tire for your buck
need 17 x255x40 and 17x 315x35 tires that have ""tremendes grip"" (road legal)
witch ones are the best reguardless of price and witch ones are your best bang for your buck... need them for a 3000 mile road race.. |
probably the best grip out there will be michelin pilot sport cup 2. just about every exotic runs them due the performance of the tire. my .02

I would also consider Toyo Proxes R888, haven't tried my own yet, but there are many who have very good experience with them on the track.
|
I absolutely LOVE my Proxes RA1s
|
I have a good friend who has autocrossed and open track dayed Corvettes for years and he currently runs these http://www.tirefactory.net/ultrac.htm on his twin turbo C5 and absolutely swears by them. His autocross e.t.s are usually in with the racing tire guys and he can go WOT in 2nd where he had to wait until 3rd with his Michelins.

Jay, it doesn't show that they make them in wider sizes....it this true?

Guys , Steve Cant seem to find the 315 toyo r888 in the Netherlands ,nor in the uk en germany !!! where can i buy them in the usa!!!.
|
I bought mine through Newstalgia Wheels and had them shipped to Norway.
The 315 should be available, see http://marktg.toyotires.com/file/30029.pdf |
Steve, how are the R888's on the street?
Im looking for a tire that will wear pretty good on the steet. I plan to drive my truck only on the nice days to work, and shows. Then i want to hit up locak Auto X's. |
Guys one more question how mutch drag do these tires have!!!!.
i alredy have a disasteres 560 hp/577lbs feet of torque fuel consuming 461 ci pontiac engine. with a 0.67 overdrive ,and with a 3.42 rear ratio i save 30% fuel econemy. installing a Vari lift system should give me another 20% econemy. (below 3000/3500 rpm) .we are also going to install one ecstra 10 ore 15 gallon fuel cell in the boot along the 19 gallong DSE tank for this 3000 mile road race. So as mentiond before we need sticky tires and it seems the ones above are the ones to go for, but im consired about the drag a bit .....also where can i get mischelin pilot sport 315x35x17 tires and how mutch are they , just heard they have the least drag and save up to 5% fuel econemy compeard to other tires.. any feed back!!!!!!!! about them ....
