holy crap...what happened to your car man?:_paranoid

Vegas69 09-24-2008 05:54 PM

Wayne it's going to be one hell of a quality build. I have to ask....why did it need taken down that far?

waynieZ 09-24-2008 07:22 PM

Well it started out needing a complete floor ,then the trunk had some pinholes scatered a round . The tail panel had rust all a round the taillights. The quarters had been fixed badly. There was a small hole in the roof skin and It was well if we fix this then that 's not much more and on and on. I brought it to a guy in my area who does awesome work .He wanted $10,000 labor to put quarters tail panel floor and trunk. I had to bring all my own parts.
So I bought all NOS parts .I was ready to have him do it . Then I saw Mike's site and couldn't believe his work , for $3,000 more he provide the parts not NOS but the way he installs them I couldn't tell the difference. I sold the NOS parts and paid for half my work. I kept the front end NOS parts ,but the rest are from Mike. I spent a bunch more with add ons but its my one shot at this so I jumped in with both feet in the deep end . And I'm not sorry.
THanks for looking
WAyne

Sub Frame Pictures

Here are some sub frame pictures Mike blasted the sub and found it had been hit on the drivers side . So he suggested we cut the crossmember in front of the motor and replace it with the set up they use to install a Rack system. Then he fixed any rusted mounting points . Then he welded all the seams solid, and ground it smooth. He powder coated all the parts It has DSE upper control arms with Xtall ball joints ,Speed tech lower control arms . All new Moog steering components with tall outer tie rod ends to combat bumpsteer. 3" drop springs with single adjustable Vari shocks and a dse front sway bar. Check it out its the first part for the car thats finnished!

nice project, I'm from MA too, where you located?

tones2SS 09-25-2008 11:31 AM

That is awesome.
Sub frame looks awesome. I do believe you said it was DSE correct? You cannot go wrong there!!!!
I, too am from MA. Forgive me for being dumb, but where is Mikescustomcars loacted?
GOOD LUCK with the build.

waynieZ 09-25-2008 08:16 PM

Awr68 Thanks for the avitar, The last time I tried to put it up it was too big Thanks again.

redrambler no rendering yet I was hoping to get one some day. For last christ mas my wife had someone in one of the malls do a colored chalk drawing of it as a before. The build will be the original sub done as you see it the engine is a Bill Mitchel Limited addition 454 small block 600hp/585 tq ,it has a Dominator carb which I will try to swap to EFI when I have the cash laer. The trans is a Keisler Viper 6 spd with a hydrolic throw out bearing . Spec stage 3 clutch going into a Chris Alston Fab 9 with 31 spline Auburn pro posi with 3:50 (for now ) Mike iis making for me. I'm using an Air ride G bar 4 link with single adjustable Vari coil over . Mike is going to cut the gas tank front corners so I fit my Hooker Super comp headers and Magna flow 3" exhaust to the back. The wheels are Rushforth Livewires full polish 18 x8 5"bs front and 19 x 12 5" bs. Tires will be 245 -18 and the rears will be 345 -19s

Tha body is being reskined at mikescustomcars.com if you want to see more check it out under projects Wayne Mendoza Mike is smothing the fire wall ,and moving the wiper motor under the drivers fender. He is also puting convertable rockers on it 3 piece instead of two stiffen the body. He is also putting frame connectoers and tieing the sub frame to the rockers for stiffness. He powder coated my inner fenders and radiator suport ,and he is alining all my sheet metal. Which he does an awesome job at he welds the edgaes if needed.I have NOS front and rear bumper and al lot of new parts for outside. I also bought a set of Prodigee customs smoked glass kit. DSE elec RS conversion kit it is a real RS /SS but vacum sucks. The car is 53000 # match car all stored away.

Interior The interior is original to the car its in decent shape, but I would like to get some Marqese door panels and rear deck panel .Maybe later on.
Sorry for the rambling and I know I forgot a lot of stuff.

GMracer and Tones2SS I live in Fall River in the SE part of the state.
Tones2SS Its a factory frame solid welded and DSE and Speed Tech control arms.
Here are the rear wheelshttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...cture004-1.jpg
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...Picture001.jpg

Project FNQUIK

I never named my project but this is the plate that went on it when I bought it so I guess thats it.
The story about the plate is this . I used to work 50 miles from home and I had to travel on hell road RT24 from Boston. ( anyone who uses it knows what I mean. ) their used to be this little BMW Z3 that used to fly by us in the work truck every day. We would be going 80 and she buzzed right by us.I got a look at her she was about 21 blond and gorgeous. We would look for her eery day . One day she got stuck in front of us and I got to see her liscence plate . It was from Ma. FNFAST I loved it .When I got home I told my wife about it . She said if you like it get it , I explaned it was a Ma. plate they don't do doubles.

Later that week A few of My buddies came over the house one was drunk as a skunk I was trying to think of a good plate . He was half asleep and didn't get in on the conversation. We talked all night with no ideas when we woke him up he blurts out . How about FNQUIK . He hadn't even flinched for two hours and comes up with a winner.

I mentioned it to my wife and she said get it if you want .I told her the state might not let me if they pick up on what it means. So I didn't even try about a week later my wife hands me an evelope from the registry , I opened it . It had FNQUIK on it and said it was aproved , she went and tried and they let it go . Thats how I got my plate.

When I put the plate on it some kid in a WRX that was no stocker came on the side of me and asked if the plate was right . I told him it was but it meant how my money was going sense i bought the car . He laghed and fried all four tires when he left. I would have had a better chance on foot to catch him lol

I have a lot of pictures of the build so far I will try to catch up to where it is now .

waynieZ 10-29-2008 08:57 PM

Thanks guys. Pete your right a bout that his work is meticulous . A friend and I went to see a car in NY that MCC had done. The guy with me didn't believe me when I told him the kind of work MCC does. He's the worlds biggest doubter. I started talking to the owner and my friend got a creeper and looked under the car. He didn't even crawl out from under it and all I heard was
SEND THIS GUY YOUR CAR! . Right after that I made arrangements to bring the car, and I'm so glad I did. I know when I get it back it will be straight and last forever.
