68 Convertible (Resurrection) Rendering added

Here it is..
Most people would have let it die a peaceful death.
But.. being the Frankenstein doctors of metal that we are we decided to resurrect it from the grave.

But seriously this thing was rough. Someone said it couldn't be done so here goes.
All work is being performed at our shop SCREAMIN' PERFORMANCE in Sunny Merritt Island, FL

I will have a rendering soon.
I will post more info soon.

Hope you enjoy
thanks,
Brian

We are fitting the MCC custom frame rails ,trunk and floor.

After a lot of measuring we determined the 68 trunk reproduction part is just under 3/4 of an inch short end for end.
I had to cut it and will add to it.

Also the lower section was cut out to make way for the MCC rails and 19/355 meats.

We started fitting the quarters and tail panel today.
After finding that the reproduction trunk floor was 3/4 to short I wanted to be sure we had our front to back measurement right before welding the trunk floor, rails and floor.

I'm pretty happy with the fit but with most repro parts it's going to need some tweaking.

Amazing work, WOW!! The patches you welded in and metal finished look outstanding!

Let us know what tweaking will be required to get the re-pop quarter panels to fit. I'd love to see what's required.

Mike

I will.
So far I noticed the deck lid gap is almost 1/2 too wide at the rear with the quarters fit. Will need some tweakin.

Is that a tow hook below the DS tail light?

speedfreak 11-18-2008 05:13 PM

Here is the rendering that Kris Horton is working on.

It is a work in progress but I am very happy with Kris's work.

Lookin awesome.

We are playing with the lower grill. Still not quite there. I have asked him to raise it up closer to the upper grill and see how that looks.

I like the one on top the best.

What do you guys think?

Top pic!

NOT A TA 11-18-2008 08:54 PM

I like the top pic.

Back in the mid 70's I also drove a 68 in the New England winters. Snows are a MUST! The G60's just floated on top, fun for parking lot sliding 360's though!

Young Gun 11-19-2008 07:21 AM

second raised about an inch...would look sick as hell

waynieZ 11-19-2008 02:46 PM

I like them both, but the bottom one looks more aggressive. I say #2
Wayne

speedfreak 11-19-2008 05:47 PM

Thanks for the replies.

I think I like the top one better, still waiting on an up date with it raised.

Brian

speedfreak 11-20-2008 03:25 PM

Here it is raised a little.

I think it may need to go up a little more.
