Project Darkness - 1969 Camaro *PICS*
Hey guys!
New to the forum so I figured I'd post up some pics of a project we have in the works right now. Its called project Darkness because the car (and everything in it) will be black or a variation of black (satin black, flat black, semi gloss black you get the point) Not really too much to look at right now, but it gives you a pretty good idea of what's to come. The rear rims are 20" x 14" wide with a massive Mickey Thompson street radial on them. Massive lip on them, I could probably curl up inside one of these rims haha. http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3468.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3459.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3457.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3456.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3455.jpg The chassis itself is going to be rediculous...cant explain, I'll just post pics as we go along. |
Some parts:
QA1 adjustable coilover shocks http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3476.jpg Corvette brakes http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3475.jpg. Wilwood pedal assembly and Wilwood master cylinders http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3474.jpg |
The front end in place now.
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3491.jpg Corvette front suspention in its place http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3493.jpg 18" front rims in place, kinda looks like a car now lol http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3492.jpg |
Rear part of the chassis in place
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3511.jpg Mock block in place http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3512.jpg Setting the drivetrain back 7" for better weight distribution http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3513.jpg Picked up the T56 today, even its black. The bellhousing will probably get painted too http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3507.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3509.jpg |
|
Chassis coming together nicely!
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3569.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3570.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3571.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3572.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3573.jpg |
We are trying to get 50/50 weight distribution for perfect handling. Soon we'll be bringing out the corner scales to weight the chassis to see what we need to do to get the suspention setup properly.
Once the car is off the chassis table and on its wheels, the roof line will measures 46in from the ground! |
Holy sh*t,you guys ain't messing around. Love that rear tire size.
|
This is going to be a cool build to follow. Lookin cool allready.

A few more updates, the alternator and power steering pump fir perfectly in between the support rails
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3593.jpg Z06 stock manifold doesn't quite fit, but the aftermarket headers should. http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3594.jpg Slick Hurst shifter on the offset Viper shifter will make slamming gears real easy http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3595.jpg Drivers side rear quarter removed, we're replacing them with new ones from Goodmark http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3596.jpg 9" getting backbraced. We've decided to go with a 3 link and panhard bar for the rear to give better adjustment for handling. http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3598.jpg |
This is a great looking car and all but I couldnt help but notice the Maverick on the lift in some of the pics. Do you mind side tracking and giving a little info on that build?

Absolutely awesome car. Is that a Coy's C-5 20x14 in the rear? What backspace did you go with? Also, what front width and backspace did you use?

Awesome build/work!!
One question, it looks like a real tight fit for a gas pedal...it this true? |
Whoa, haven't checked here in a bit.
Yeah the rims are Coy's as for backspacing, I'm not too sure. I'll have to ask my buddy who actually ordered the rims. The throttle wont be too bad, it does look tight but everything fits perfect. Many more pictures coming.... |
Keep us posted.
This thing looks NASTY!!!:willy: |
Moar!
Fuel cell filler http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3646.jpg Custom made fuel cell http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3647.jpg Wheel tubs in place http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3648.jpg "Mufflers" hidden in the rocker, the square holes are the Nascar style side exit http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3649.jpg Dash set into place, about 3-4 inches back. http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3650.jpg |

Its been a little while, heres a few more small details that have been accomplished.
Rear quarters are fitted and tack welded in place. http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3707.jpg Hinge and gas strut for the trunk lid (sorry about the blurry pics) http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3708.jpg Support for the rear panel welded in http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3709.jpg 3 link figured out and adjustable panhard bar in place http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3710.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3711.jpg |
Some rear sheet metal and wheel tubs
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3712.jpg Front brakes on the left, the rear's on the right. The rear brakes are actually front C6 Vette caliper/rotors. And the massive fronts are Z06 Vette brakes. http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3713.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/DSCF3714.jpg[/QUOTE] |
