Vertigo is now at Gearhead Garage!

As several of you know, I decided recently to move my car to a shop who has more experience and can handle my project. Nothing against the previous small one-man operation that was working on my car, but the progress just wasn't happening. So after almost 2 years I pulled it and this weekend is was move to Gearhead Garage in Sacramento - and a Lateral-G sponsor. The owner Jason and the shop was highly recommended by 2 local guys here on the forum also with 1st gen Camaros (Mazspeed and Mdprovee) and it was important to me to have the car closer to me this time around. I can be at the shop now in 1:15.

See www.gearheadcars.com and check out Jason's killer website.

Also, "Vertigo" has personal meaning to me and motivated me to do a project of this magnitude. Of course I just didn't think it would take 2+ years!

I am stoked to have the car in the new location now and my enthusiasm is now back to where it should be. Here's a couple pics.

Great News!!

I can't express how happy I am for you! I know how bummed you have been with the drawn out project and I'm sure those days are well behind you! Having it close to home will be nice, you can stop by and check things out, and if they have a question you can schedule a visit and make a decision in person...can't beet that!

Keep the updates coming!! Any idea of when the car will be finished?

Thanks Tony. I am so glad both of us are in good hands now!

Timeline depends on how fast I can throw $ at it. So... that could mean January on the fast side, and Feb/March on the slow side. The goal is to have it possibly done for the AutoRama in Sac in early Feb, but if not then, definitely by Good Guys in March.

Glad to see some sort of progress.

Sounds like it will be finished fairly quickly! This is good!

Flash,

The car looks nice and it looks like there is light at the end of the tunnel for you. Keep us posted

Flash68 11-16-2008 10:43 PM

Thanks guys. Yes things seem to be on the right track again.

Good job and good call. Jason is a great guy to work with and it's always important to have the work done locally if possible. CAR is another great choice but further away, but you will like Jason's commitment. I never know you had 69 rear tails on a 68 body.

Thanks Mike. Yeah I feel pretty damn good about it.

The 69 tails from Marquez I just had to have, and to my knowledge, I am the only one who has fabbed them into a 68 tail.

Glad you have something going now. Tell Jason he has to finish mine before yours though. I will see ya around I am sure.

Looking good Dave, you have a nice car, and again thanks for the tube. Thanks for posting the pictures.

Vegas69 12-03-2008 08:36 AM

You are going to like you G BAr. I have been playing with the shock adjustments and very surprised how much difference a couple clicks makes.

fleetus macmullitz 12-03-2008 09:13 AM

Dave, that's a car any Prussian general would be proud to own.

Jr 12-03-2008 10:33 AM

The pictures look good. Is that the final set of rims? What kind of coating is on the bottom of the car? How soon till you are driving her?

Vegas69 12-03-2008 10:37 AM

Just an opinion...700hp and no scattershield?:unibrow:

It's pretty cool having our cars there together, Mike.

I also plan to get that aluminum arm upgrade soon when SC&C releases it. Basically update it to almost the new "G Link" version.

Yes I believe I am staying with these rims, but the final finishes will be different. That is powdercoating on the bottom. Shooting for Feb driving, March at the latest.

Hmm... I've never comtemplated this. Do I absolutely need one?

Vegas69 12-03-2008 12:35 PM

You like your feet? With that kind a snort it's a good idea. Quick time makes some nice light weight SFI approved bellhousings. I really like mine. Hate to keep doing this to you but it's easier now than later or after you amputate your feet.

I kinda like my feet. But it seems many guys with high power are not running them? And from what I hear the TKO housing is pretty strong. I don't plan on bolting slicks on and doing 5000 rpm launches.

Do these other guys just not like their feet?

I looked at the quicktime site - which one you recommend?

thx

There are plenty of guys running around with no fire extinguishers and having sex with strange women without a rubber. :D I just no my own luck with cars...so I just don't take any chances. Whichever fits your application and clutch. Not sure what motor you are running. I hate to spend your money but now is the time to make the decision.

Dammit, you got me again!

Admit it. You don't mind spending my money.

I will strongly consider this, but my guy said he has yet to see a TKO housing explode.

Vegas69 12-03-2008 05:01 PM

Let me know what you and your GUY decide on... Sorry, couldn't resist.

Decided to go with a scattershield after all. Got a good deal on a local used McLeod piece from Blown353 (Thanks Troy). Guess I feel like saving my feet/legs after all...

Also have the Ring Bros hood hinges on their way in brushed finish.

fleetus macmullitz 12-06-2008 07:28 PM

If more people cared about their fellow Americans feet like Todd does, this would be a better country.

I think...:_paranoid

Dropped the scattershield off today with Jason. Hooray for foot safety!

Post up some more photos so I can spend YOUR money...I'm tired of spending mine. Well maybe not..If you keep the car you will be glad when you hit 6500 rpm under max boost.
