Last day at work

Well today was my last official day at work. I am retiring from the Air Force and we had a Thanksgiving meal for the troops today. So I decided to take the car and get a couple shots around the F-15 that I have worked on for more than half my career. They didn't turn out to good with my camera but a couple buddies took some better ones for me. Just thought I would share.

Thank you for your service. Fighter jets are the coolest thing ever. Nice picture.

My father was in the air force for 25 years. He was the chief of the tower so I was priveleged to be around all the cool jets alot. We would go to Thunderbird shows and he would know their frequency so we would listen to them speak to each other while they were putting on a show.

Good luck with whatever you do next.

Tracy I have had the priveledge of getting two rides in it. Let me tell you, there is nothing like a good ol max climb in an F-15 on take-off.

my brother just retired after many years of Air Force service to work a civilian job for the government.

We stayed by the Air Force base in Vegas for SEMA, man watching those jets maneuver just off the flight deck was awesome:D

did you work on just 1 particular plane or just a fleet of F-15's?

slck6t9 11-27-2008 11:16 AM

Youthpastor, I have had the pleasure of working on the F-15, F-16, A-10, T-38. The F-15 was by far the most challenging aircraft from a crewchief's standard to work on but the A-10 was my favorite. I worked the A-10 during the first Gulf War and seeing what kind of damage that thing can take and still go out and kill was amazing.

youthpastor 11-27-2008 11:27 AM

ok so here's my question..when we were at SEMA watching what i thought were f-15's they all took off and then a lone aircraft took off that was about twice the size and just banked hard it was a total fighter jet but looked like a private jet..what was it???- Chris

slck6t9 11-27-2008 01:09 PM

Probably a B-1 bomber. They only have a couple out at Nellis and they usually take off by themselves.

Spiffav8 11-28-2008 01:36 PM

Aviation gets in your blood....especially Fighters! The F-15 has always been a favorite of mine. Pushing 49,950 lbs of thrust per side is a ton O power for an aircraft that size! Love to watch it at Airshows...it just sounds like it's winning! lol

So now what? Are you off to become a high priced government contractor or are you going to kick back for awhile? Whatever you do, enjoy it! You've earned it.

Thank Scott. I very much so appreciate your dedication and service.
