Pete's trailer in a ball....FIRE BALL THAT IS!!
Pete was on his way back to comp-spec after dropping off a few cars at a show today when he saw a little smoke behind him! He pulled over and found this!! :wow: Not sure why things like this happen to such good people!

Holy crap!
:willy: Doesn't look like any cars were in there.. what caught on fire? The trailer wiring? Hope he was insured... that just sucks and Pete's such a good guy.. On the plus side.. there's some killer deals out there for slightly used trailers. |
damn!!!! that sux pete.
look like there were no car in there though... so its only the trailor... does you insurance cover something like that? |
Do we know how it started Tony?
|
Whoa!! What happened? Looks like the fire started where the batteries would be?
|
Hold ****!....that is wild! glad he pulled over the check it out, and no cars were in it!
Paul |
No cars were inside! Scott is correct! Pete thinks something hit a battery and that's how it started. It basically burnt out as it took 35 min for the fire depatment to show! He did make the news though!
|
:wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow:
Sorry to see that, man! Hoping no one was hurt... John |
pete, that sucks, if you need a trailer you know who to call....
|
Damn, that sucks Pete. I hope you didn't lose any tools or anything in there too. In this time of economic struggle, I hope it doesn't hurt your business too much.
|
That's what im thinking must of happen, something maybe grounding out the battery under the cabinet. Luckily it's insured.
We didn't lose anything and the biggest thing no one got hurt so it's all good |
That is wild.... :wow: Glad it was not worse....
|
Glad to see pete is ok.
|
Goodness, Gracious, Great Balls of...
Seriously Pete sorry to hear and glad everyone is OK |
Holy!!! I imagine you were unhooking the truck pretty fast?
|
Holy smoke :wow:
|
Terrible!
The same thing happened to a friend, it started at the battery. He had a Lola T163 Can-Am car in the trailer but his tool box was behind the car in the back. They had a choice, slam the door to reduce air to the fire and wait for the fire dept, or open it up and try to get the race car out in a HURRY! They decided to pull the car out fast, and it worked out OK. I put my battery in a plastic marine box and keep it covered. David |
Sorry about the trailer Pete!!
Was that you on Monday in Sharon? I saw it on the evening news. Good thing no one got hurt and the trailer is insured. BEST OF LUCK!!! |
looks like pete is in the market for a new trailer........... and possibly a fire extinguisher????:unibrow:
|
Same thing happened to a guy I knew several years ago; but he had his StreetTrucks Cover truck in the trailer... total loss.
hate to hear it Pete. I hope you're insurance takes care of you. |
Wow! what a nightmare. Like everyone else said and I'm sure you know, its a lot easier to replace a trailer than a trailer + 2 cars! Hopefully you'll end up on the better end of the deal.:wow:
|
We've always had a fire extinguisher in our trailers for the thought of something like this happening. But after seeing this and thinking that there might be a chance a car was in there, I'd think about adding a good set of shears to cut the straps off a car in a hurry instead of crawling on the ground to unhook it. Good thing it was onthe way home and not to the show.
Glad you and your truck are okay. |
Wow Pete, sorry to hear that, but glad you're OK!

Fire system
Sorry to hear about this. This happened to one of our construction trailers years ago. Tons of equipment damaged.
Pete you might want to take in consideration what I did to some of our trailers for work and my car hauler. We installed small generator type fire surpression systems they only weigh about 2lbs and can be mounted in the corners of the trailer. We wired them to a control panel which is outside the trailer in a lockable storage tongue box. Check out PERIPHERAL MANUFACTURING INC. Priced reasonably considering what your hauling. There main use is for commercial residential computer rms. The suppression does not corrode steel or aluminum like Halon and others. DAVE |
:wow: :faint: I'm glad to hear everyone is ok.

We use these Benchmade Rescue Hooks to cut straps and seat belts to get folks out of burning vehicles. This hook may not be big enough for vehicle tie downs, but they offer a few models of various sizes. It's just an idea. |
This is a horrible thing to happen, at least you guys are all ok and no cars were damaged.
Note to all with batteries not in stock locations! Put a circut breaker on all battery cables right off the battery and if you have multiple batteries put one right off each one so there is no way this can happen. Very easy to do and a good one runs about $40-50 bucks and its worth every penny as you can see. |
