Come on Charley!
I know its not a pro touring project, but you have to post some pics and tell the story of your new 70 Z28. Probably the coolest find IMO. Congrats.
I saw that over on the yenko board, a truly great find with an unbelievable story to boot.
That's awesome.

On a side note, seeing undercoating on the original oil filter is unbelievable. |
Cool find! Now get cutting.... ha ha
Amazing.
What prompted him to sell it Charley? |
He is not married and has no kids. He is 68 years old and figured it was time to find a good home for it.
WOW!!!!
That is really a great find. AMAZING!!! :hail: |
amazing find thanks for sharing
Very nice, I hope you do as little as possible to it...
Incredible find and to think it was right in my backyard
Leave it to Charley to come up with all the good stuff.
charley. you did good . that is way better than a 69 .
rick k:lateral:  :woot:  |
Can't be many of those floating around anymore....engine looks like it has more than 1100 miles to me. Just looking at oil seepage upper engine area. Never the less one in a mill.
LOL...It is absolutely 1100 miles. Look at the pic of the build sheet still stuck to the diff cover. It is within 1" and hasn't burn't up.
Amazing car ! I am sure many show judges could learn a thing or 2 from it !!

Guess Charlie can name it "door ding"
What a story. Park it for 35 years over a door ding. Crazy |
Great car and story
Wow what a great story. Even better that the owner wanted to make sure the car ended up in the right hands for someone else to enjoy instead of keeping it tucked away and something happening to it. Sort of like the, "One day I'm going to restore it or drive it owners" that will NEVER do anything with the car ever again. Of course this is NOTHING like those barn finds or car sitting in a driveway not to be sold stories we often hear.
Part of me thinks it should be preserved as is and the other part of me thinks you should take it out and do a big fat smoky burnout.  |
door ding?
He parked it for 35 years cause of a door ding? what a baby. now take this to Detroit Speed for tubs and get one of those twin turbo mule motors and the nice thing is you wont have it painted :faint: ok i was kidding about modding it. I've seen a local guy here that bought a superbly restored 69-70 BB nova and he has a shop I know that put tires/wheels,suspension and last I heard he's adding an O/D unit to the muncie in it - all bolt ons and he's boxing up the rallys/redlines and stuff to be put back - just like in the old days except the stuff pulled went in the trash and the cars cost alot more now too. nice find Charley.
WOW!! What an incredible story. What condition is the engine in after sitting for all these years. Do you have it running?
That is a really neat car Charley...One in a million. Congrats!:woot:
I gotta think a car like this you keep unmolested.
If it can live and breath with the original oil, tires (and air in the tires) then leave it be. A thorough cleaning is as far as I'd take it. You never know. This car could be the last of the survivors. |
How did you come across this find in the first place?
I say leave it the way it is. Give it a good cleaning and store it away!!! AMAZING FIND!!! :wow: 1,100 MILES?!?!!?:faint: |
New car gets a door ding. I park it after 1100 miles of donuts and burnouts because I am pissed off.:D
Cool beyond all measure Charlie. |

Great find Charley, and thanks for sharing all the photos. And it's great that you will be keeping Norman updated with how "his" car is being received by the community. The whole thing would make a great segment on Dream Car Garage. Makes you wonder how many "time capsule" cars like this are found and promptly modified/torn apart/all history lost, by people who don't know any better... |
Really great find Charley! I checked out all the pics, thanks! It's just increadable that he let it sit for so long!
Drive the piss out of it even if you put 50,000 miles on it you would still be ahead and look good while driving it. Just my .02
I know you got a few things going now, but any news on this thing?
Anything?
Car is safe and sound here...built a web site for it.
And an awesome site it is...!
Thanks for posting this original beauty for all the world to see Charley...
Charley did you ever find some more 1970 air?
Nope...Just diluted the 70 air with 2009 air.
