Bitchin build! I've owned 5 of these trucks-a 90 standard cab shortbed, a '95 X-cab, a '99 3/4-ton crew cab and now a '98 crew cab dually and a 95 standard cab. i just finished my '95 std. cab. Air ride tech susp., 20-inch bonspeed's, baer brakes, big fat sway bar, 383 small block, white with flat black SS badges and stripes, black vinyl interior with houndstooth inserts, black loop carpet, bonspeed billet steering wheel. Has a flat black finished glare shelid hood and a raw muscle truck look. Took it to Sema this year and it turned some heads.
I am the Editor of Street Trucks Magazine and would love to stay updated on your build. Good looking truck-keep up the good work. |

Thanks Travis u have some badass trucks as well. My dad subscribes to Street Truck Mag so hes in to them too. He has a 69 we are goin to start on.
 Heres a few more pics of the truck so far. Headers are 1 3/4 stainless goin into 3 collectors. Attachment 20934 Attachment 20935 Attachment 20936 Attachment 20937 |
Yep. Its Travis. Cool project. I'll follow the build. Perhaps we can do a Blood, Sweat & Gears project spotlight on it in Street Trucks.

Took the dash out to take out air and heater. What a pain but had to do it anyway to re-wire truck. A few pics of my gauges and my DD to.

What do yall think?
With coils. Attachment 21479 Attachment 21480 Or do u think i need to remote mount them. Attachment 21481 Attachment 21482 |
I think it looks better with a remote mount. What's the scoop on the 5.3? It looks great but what did you do inside? Nice project you have going.
I had two blocks but one had a burnt main and the other one had a messed up cylinder so i decided to bore it 30 and go with the cubes.

Sounds pretty stout. I am going to guess that you break the 450hp mark with that combo depending on your compression ratio. Do you know where that ended up at?
A tic over 10.5. I'm goin to have run good gas but not my dd so it won't be that big of deal. :D
How is the project coming along? Have you had a chance to get that engine fired up yet?
It's goin slowly here lately been workin my butt off at work which is good i guess but not so much for workin on the truck. I been tryin to find brakes for the front but nobody makes any i like except the big 14" 6 piston that i cant afford. :wow: Im takin everything off of it to get frame powdercoated and to paint firewall and underside.
Attachment 22546 Attachment 22548 |
No i have not had a chance to fire engine yet. I am re wiring the entire truck and i havnt decided what ECM to run yet. I been thinkin Big Stuff 3 but idk. Thats alot for a computer but it can control trans to so i will see. Thanks for askin thou.
Nice build. Why are you having to rewire the truck?
I'm hoping to one day drop an LSx into my dad's '90 so I'm trying to collect all the "To Do" list stuff. |

Im rewire the truck cause im putting a 5.3 motor and 4l605e trans in it that never came in the truck so i figure it be easier to rewire entire truck. Plus i want clean up some of the wiring any way. The Big Stuff 3 can control trans to so i was thinking it might be better in long run with tuning. Some new bling for the interior.

Excited about this. I think the LSx is what the Chevy Sport Truck was invented for. :D
I got the bed and cab off the frame today. Now have to take everything off and get it to powdercoater.

Well one of them.
Frame goin to the powdercoater tomorrow. I will post pics when i get it back. Finally seems like im gettin somewhere. :D
