Here's the truck I built. It was the first vehicle I built in the series of 10 custom vehicles I'm building (working on a '63 Belair now).

Sold my 85 a few years back. It was Project Red Rocker built when I worked for Truckin' Magazine. Some of you may remember it. Air Ride tech susp., 20/22 Bonspeeds, fully shaved, red with traditional flames, full custom street rod style interior. It was built by Hill's Hot Rods and was on the cover of the June 2005 issue of Truckin'.

I have an 84 I have been trying to finish for awhile,Customer's cars always come first.Square bodys are starting to finally get the love.

So I have been watching this thread for a while and finally got around to digging up some photos of my own. I really like this bodystyle of this truck and there are some great ones in this thread.
This is my truck from high school and part of college. I practically spent every dime I earned on it. I had it for about 5 years and bought it as a stock '85 chevy and did all the work myself... it was my first cart (truck). Gotta love the 15's.... thats all I could afford... haha. I really wanted larger wheels though. Built 350 with ported/polished vortec heads (about 425hp) Bowtie Overdrives 700R-4 3:73 Posi Rear http://www.tdulgerian.com/webpics/truck1.JPG http://www.tdulgerian.com/webpics/truck2.JPG http://www.tdulgerian.com/webpics/truck3.JPG |
Clean truck!
That was (is) a nice truck. Nothing wrong w/15's either as long as they properly fit the vehicle they're on.
I took off the polished 18/20 TT2 combo that was on my 74 & put the old school ralleys back on. Everyone said it would be a dumb move but the same people now say (much to their own suprise) it looks just as good. It's all about the right width, back-spacing, & choice of tire sizes. |
Thanks..... sometimes I wish I would have kept the truck.
I think ralleys look good on these trucks and you're right, backspacing and tire size makes all the difference. They have big wheel openings and need to be filled with tire. Would be cool to see one done with a pro-touring style. Wouldn't even have to mini-tub, they already can clear 315's. |

I have a thing for mid 60's to mid 70's GM short fleet trucks & have 3 (my 74, the 67, & a 64). |

This is my daily, but I might trade it in for a 82-87 chevy crew cab dually. I love this little truck but I think I need something biger to pull my project cars around. Its got a 305/350 which would make towing a bit of a task:drive:

Here's 'Postal'
http://onfinite.com/libraries/1508640/3f0.jpg I am planning on a slight drop and a new wheel/tire set along the lines of a nascar look. I'm open to suggestions. slimneverdies & 71RS/SS396, what wheel/tire setup are you guys running? |
Here's how it looks now... it changed quite a bit from that last pic.

Square Body's are bitchin. I want another one. My first truck was an 83 shortbed and I had Red Rocker a few years back. if I did another one i would do it just like my high school truck with a static drop, single tone, bumpers etc. I want one with a stock look but on the ground with 20's and big sway bars and a nice little 350. Something to drive on Saturday's and Sunday's, go to the parts swap in, head to the donut shop in etc. Love these trucks. Borrowing my buddies dark blue '85 right now while Op. Muscle Truck gets its computer tuned. It's dropped on 15" Americans and has really been rewinding the clock for me .
Too cool. Travis |
Here's my 84 454 burb with a Pull Rite hitch. For Sale $2,000.00

Love the square bodies. I remember hating them for so long when I was younger...and then one day I saw a slick red one dropped down on 15" Welds. It had a roll pan and a full shave. Man...since then I always thought about how cool it would be to have one as a "just for fun" truck. Something like a couple of you already said/have...Basically stock outside with some upgraded equipment. 20's, a low stance, mild but upgraded sounds and some decent power would do it for me. I'd even rock a comfy bench seat. Another classic style that will live forever in my opinion.
|
|
Way cool. Less is sometimes more on these. Great lines and the trim is not gaudy or overbearing. The bench seat is timeless. Made it easier for certain activites as a teenager!

WOW! Not that many squares on here. I know there are more of you that come on here so lets get some pics up.
Here's my 77 Cheyenne. It has been through a few transitions with the help of some good friends including my buddy Tony from RideTech. The body is stock, but everything under the hood and suspension has been updated. I am running a GM Ramjet 350 with a built 700r4. This was installed by Roger and Keith at RPL Customs back when they were with another shop. The article on that install is here "77 Cheyenne meets Ramjet 350 by N2TRUX" The RPL crew recently did a complete RideTech update which included StrongArms, MuscleBars, up front and the AirBAR system in the rear. The complete build of that system was documented in my online article "DO NOT OPEN- Air Ride Technologies inside"This article was taken to print in the July issue of StreetTrucks. Thanks to Travis! Currently I am adding yet another update to the system. You can read about the RideTech e3 install in my article here "e3 LevelPro + Big Red x4 ≈ 77 Air Square" http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/.../P53000231.JPG http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/.../P53000241.JPG http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...s/100_0383.JPG http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...s/PC140205.JPG |
How come I only see the Red x's?
|
Sorry about that. The upload format here is rather restrictive and I don't want to host images on yet another site. It looks like thumbnails linked to full size pics are the best deal here.
Looks like my latest version failed too. I don't even see the red X. Let me see what I can come up with |
Clicked on the x's and it works. Not sure if I'd seen those pics of your truck. I'm over "there" too. Beautiful pictures man.
More Squares! Show us more Squares! |
Love the square bodies.
|
Here you go N2TRUX, I've had this picture of your truck in my photobucket account for probably 5 years or more. I can't remember. :)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2.../n2trucks3.jpg I'd like to have another square for a project someday. It probably won't be for a few more years though. |
Thank you for the pic. I have a ton of them, but gave up on uploading them to storage sites when several of them folded up.
|
Oh man that's sweet.
