Show Room:
The show room is used to display production chassis, recently completed customer cars, and cars for sale. We also have crate engines, antique gas pumps, pedal cars, Cushman scooters and a few other things for sale. It changes pretty much daily, so there are a lot of different pictures below depending on which cars are in the shop.

We found a guy on eBay selling NOS bilboards from the 50's through late 60's. There is a shot of an original 57 Chevy billboard in the showroom and a killer '67 Camaro later in the shop.

About that Charger.... That car isn't really supposed to be seen until it debutes. The owner does not want it getting out. I didn't realize it was in the picture before I uploaded it

The challenger is in paint now. it has a 528 Aluminum Hemi by Indy backed by a TKO 600. Tubular K member with IRS. The bumpers have been sectioned, narrowed, and mounted flush with the body. we removed the headlight doors at the edges of the fenders and made that part of the fender. Same with the front edge molding on the hood. fabbed a lower valance and spoiler. The body is shaved and smoothed. fabbed a sheet metal spoiler for the deckild and tops of 1/4 panels. a lot of other areas worked as well. I have to get around to starting a thread for that car. there are a few pics on our web site.

So that is how the other half lives huh! Freakin impressive.

Roadster Shop 01-09-2009 11:22 AM

Thanks for the positive responses. We have only been in this shop for a year so it is still pretty clean and new. We were in the last shop for 20 + years. It got to be a pretty big mess that we couldn't stand any more. When we set up the new shop, we wanted to take all of the negatives of the old shop into account to improve the new location. Easy access between departments and aisles, parts storage, seperated areas for each portion of the build, and many other things were taken into account. Laying out the shop floor was a several week ordeal, trying to figure out the best flow and what would work out best. I defintitely do not want to go through moving and laying out the new shop ever again!

Here are a few more pictures of the final assembly room. We decided that we needed a "clean room" to assemble cars in after paint. This also has worked out well for service work so we can keep cars away from the dust and debris of the rest of the shop.

HD CNC Plasma Table can cut material 4' x 20' and thicknesses from sheet metal to 1.5" plate steel. It can cut steel, stainless, and aluminum. Cuts are exact and flawless through out any material or thickness.

We are looking to get more use out of this machine. We will be listing a few new products on our web site and Lateral-G shortly. If anyone has anything they would like CNC cut, I would be happy to quote it for you. There is an optical scanner built into the machine, so we can scan patterns and create exact duplicates if you need parts cut.

There are a few examples of different brackets and gussets that were just cut as examples.

Have any place for a mechanical engineer that will graduate in spring 2010? I have plenty of hands on experience running a performance shop/business and working on cars. Don't have any real welding or metal fabricating skills beyond my machining degree from the local tech school. I want to learn every thing I can though. I think I could also learn to deal with the cold. Your place and DSE look like heaven to me.

67Sally 01-09-2009 09:41 PM

Very slick setup. When the next open house is set I'll be there.

The old shop was definitely a big motivation on keeping the new place so cleen.
