DSE or HEIDTS Rear Suspension
I am looking to install a new coil over rear supsension in my 69 Camaro and I was wondering which one I should install since I have installed the DSE deep tubs already. I am looking for good handling and the best ability to plant some sticky tires to the ground. The difficulty of installation is not a problem for me. They both look very easy to install. Please some feedback on the pros and cons of these two systems. Or do you have a better idea.

I have seen the DSE suspension on the road thanks to VEGAS69 the car flat out handled to road with no problem. I have not see hedits but I'm sure it a well made piece. it really is what you want to put in it. just my .02

Vegas 69 has a G bar which is a much better choice then Heidts. Heidts is in a different catagory. Your choice is really between a DSE Quadra Link and a G bar (many variations)
Your welcome to call and discuss |

Are you talking about the Chis Alston G-Bar. |

Yes Frank is, but you should call him as there are a few versions available now and he is the guy to help you make the right choice! Have you considered a 3-link or torque arm? There are many suspension options available...life is good in the PT world now days!! |
Yep...I have a DSE subframe and G bar out back. Boy do I miss it:D :D
|
Heidts should not even be considered.
|
Should also check Art Morrisons' Rear clips :unibrow: killer set ups

DSE!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hail:

X2. Alot of guys have their bias. DSE sub and 4llink combo is awesome in the real world.
|
1 - Lateral Dynamics 3-link
2 - DSE Quadra-Link |
when it comes down to it you cant go wrong with either the LD 3-link,
DSE quadralink, alston g-link/bar,AME-3 link-4 link, or a good torque arm setup... heidts has yet to truly prove itself or even be rank to compete with the big dogs mentioned above, thats for sure. |

Heidts is only good for street rods i know there mustang 4 link you have to make fit.

I wouldn't entirely toss out the Heidt's rear setup. It's not well known, and not many people have used it, so they don't know it. It WAS recently tested in the Super Chevy Challenge and it did very well for itself. Mary Pozzi could probably add something to this as she drove all the cars in that challenge.
But I have to add that I'm going to be running a leaf spring setup for a bit till I build myself a custom three link. |

Your just misinformed. Since Gary sold it under new management and new ideas. I would have to say their system is up and coming and for the cost you just can't beat it. Not only that they ride nice. P.S. I've installed the Mustang system as a side job in my garage. It went together rather nicely. The trick is to start with a nice clean car.;) |

I can honestly say that he does not work for Heidts, but I do. Hello all, my name is Marko and I am a sales/tech rep for Heidts Hot Rods and Muscle Cars. We are under new ownership and they are coming up with some great ideas for the muscle car end and still keeping up with our great street rod line. I have been with the company for 3 yrs and I will be the first to say that I do not know everything but I am always there to try and help. Whether it is an install question or a tech question I will do my best to get you the correct answer. As far as some of you saying that we are in a different class............LOOK OUT!!! You might find yourself :hail: Heidts. (all in good fun)

Heidts
The Heidts suspension is an option for those that maybe want outstanding performance, but they might not want to cut that original car up. They offer great bolt in suspension systems. I have had the pleasure of driving there 71 Camaro & was very pleased. The 70 Camaro that I am building will include a full Heidts system & some new tricks. I will be posting some info in projects section coming up soon. :lateral:

DSE for me!
I can only vouch for what I have installed in my car. Any chance i can get to praise DSE, I do. After driving with leaf springs for years and then installing the quadra link. One word--Wow!! At the track--Wow!! On the Highway--Wow!!

After seeing the Heidt second gen Camaro run in the Super Chevy Suspension Challenge, I have a much improved opinion of them. Mary drove it and liked it, the car turned very fast laps in the autox, - I think they were second fastest, and with a brand new car! They don't use any aluminum knuckles or A arms, so I wouldn't rate them as high as a DSE or Morrison sub, but they did perform well.

I know im late to answer but the Heidt 4 link i put on a 66 mustang did not fit and the car was straight i had it on a frame jig to check it.And the coil overs that came with it where way too soft it bottomed out a lot.And the 4 link was bought about 6 months ago the owner of the car took it off 2 weeks later and ebay it.

Hopefully the new owners will straighten these things out. I met Marc, one of the owners and I think they realize Muscle cars are the hot rods of the future and they want to be in on this market.
Did anyone talk to Heidt about the Mustang problems? Was it the new management? I think they took over some time early 2008? David |

Thank you, Marko |
I'll ask the owner of the car he bought the kit and had me put it on.But it will be a while before i can talk to him hes in the army been gone a few months now.

I don't think I mentioned one concern with the Heidt rear suspension. The upper link on each side mounts to the unibody just outboard of the frame rail, there is a narrow area between the frame rail and inner fender. This area is removed when a minitub is done, so I don't know if this suspension is compatible. The one I saw was on a second gen Camaro, don't know how they set up the second gen system, but it may be similar.
