by LSX you mean 6.0L block with 4 head bolts, not a 6 bolted LSX block??

super cool car though, love everything but the splitter, but perhaps it will be better once the car is done, right now it looks alittle after-thought'ish... like it did on tylers 50/50 renderings....

skatinjay27 01-19-2009 04:27 PM

damn! that car is wild looking!!!!
the metal work looks out standing.

forget 1 up this car is straight 10 uping dyrdeks Rouge status car! lol

thats cool that you a member here, you rip, i still remeber your toy machine days :unibrow: lol

Roadster Shop 01-19-2009 04:49 PM

Cool car. Glad to see someone actually enhance that body line off the fender wheel opening. I've seen it in a ton of renderings, but nobody every carries through and does it on the car. It looks sick!

Jr 01-19-2009 04:50 PM

Josh,
Is ASP going to build the twin turbo system? Also, what front/rear suspension setup are you going to run? Please share all the pictures you have

phillym5 01-19-2009 09:12 PM

Thanks for all the compliments guys....

Flash 68...
Thanks again, man.... hope to see you driving your Camaro real soon....:captain:

Deuce 454...
The splitter is being played with. The one in the rendering was thought up by Kris Horton. I like it... but like you said... who knows how it will look in real life. We have mocked up a few different ones.... But still undecided.
What you can't see is the rear. We are mocking up a rear diffuser (like the ford gt) Should be pretty cool.
The LS block is the one from the truck... not the "super" iron block. You have to excuse my "LS" knowledge.... my partner Brian is the Engine dude. lol.
skatinjay27
This car is going to smoke Dyrdeks... lol.:unibrow:
I think we are lining up some dual photo shoots... and also may run them on TV... when or where..... I have no idea. But he can't drive anyway....lol.

RS-perf...
We originally weren't going to do it. Matter of fact..we were going to two tone the car to keep the costs down(on paint)... but when we got the renderings... and the fenders were flared(as usual).. I came back to the shop and the fender was cut.. I said "WTF"...lol... and my guy was like... we HAVE to do it like the rendering. Thats what opened the doors...

DJW32
We have the DSE quadralink with coilovers. The front suspension is Global west.... coilover.. drop spindles... ect. Stock subframe with a couple little tweaks... but not much. NO air ride... We put that in Robs car. I hated it. To finicky... buttons and what not.
The turbo kit is going to be built by ASP. They(Brian) are pretty good at it. I've attached a photo of a turbo kit he built in a 69 a couple years ago. Mine should be pretty similar. We are using Bullseye Power turbo's... We are a certified tuner for them... and they are from our area so we are going to show support.(I wish they would donate them suckers though)....lol.

slownova...
Thanks. I decided to go old school because...... I don't know really. I guess they are just bad ass cars..the majority of my car club all runs muscle cars.. and they are a hell of a lot easier to work on. Not to mention the feel, sound of a cam'd out V8 is intoxicating. And now that you can really make them drive like a bimmer... but still have that OG look... and when done right... its game over. Looks, sound, acceleration..ect.
Not to mention... I am apart of a business that specializes in making them fast... :P

Mr. Vengeance.....
I live 5 miles from Gratton Race track. My plan when the car is done is to be at the track 3-5 days a week. Im not going to lie... I have(had) pretty high horsepower cars... but none have had the power that this car is going to have. I drive the piss out of my cars with no looking back. But I know how to respect the power... and i WILL have to go and really learn how to drive this car. My bimmer will lose traction at 75mph... and I can control it. Whether its sideways... or straight... But I know this car will lose traction at 120+.... so, The track is where I will learn how to handle the power. And believe me.... it will ALL be documented. ;)

Thanks again guys...
I love this stuff.

Mr.VENGEANCE 01-19-2009 09:41 PM

thats good to hear..

nothing worse than a guy with a musclecar and 600+ hp put put puttin along and never using the car.

srh3trinity 01-19-2009 10:58 PM

I would like to see the DC Shoes parking lot some time. Just don't let Ken Block get a hold of the keys or this might happen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rs-jA...x=0&playnext=1

The car looks awesome, the fender lines look great and I am a big fan of center exit exhaust systems.

Bowtieracing 01-19-2009 11:17 PM

This is really intresting!! Let us know more of the rear diffuser and exhaust :hail:

deuce_454 01-20-2009 01:42 AM

Just wanted to say thank you for the post, you took time to answer all of the comments and questions... and it will be great to see a car that is actually done like the rendering for once....

great job, and great thread

Roadster Shop 01-20-2009 01:14 PM

That wheel opening line definitely makes the car. It is in a lot of renderings because it really changes the look and makes the car more aggressive. You never see it actually carried out because it is labor intensive and it takes skill to do it. Good to see some one go outside the '69 mold and try something cool on the car. 1/4's, bumpers, and exhaust are trick too.

ArisESQ 01-20-2009 02:53 PM

the car is definitely going to be nice when its done. i really dig the exhaust. keep us posted!

...or you sell your 70 Mustang and build a tube chassis Porsche with a 525HP SBC engine - best of both worlds :unibrow: Next car will be a 70 fastback again tho'

back OT - I agree with others about the flares, the lines of the 69 really lend to doing a flare and your car executes it very well and I too think they blend great  Will be a rad car to see progress on! I like the front spoiler in the rendering as well, but I tend to really like spoilers on old muscle cars (BTW, the front piece is a spoiler, not splitter... splitters are parallel to the ground and extend forward to create downforce)

phillym5 02-09-2009 09:37 PM

Sorry for the lack of updates.... I've been away from the shop for a bit.. I know they were finishing up the wheel tubs.... and assembled the motor. I get back to Mi in a week or two. Then im sure there will be some good updated photo's....

Sounds good.
Can't wait to see the updates.

Good to see progress! When did you drop the blue colored rendering idea? I thought that looked pretty badass. The new rendering looks great to but the blue was a bit more original... although the darker scheme might look better as you pass Dyrdek!

We originally were going to use the blue to keep the cost down. The engine bay, door jams..ect were blue already... BUT, once we committed to cutting up the fenders and all that... it didn't really matter anymore. The whole car had to be painted. So... I really wanted a gun metal car. Something I would never get tired of looking at.:unibrow:
