98ssnova 01-20-2009 11:27 AM

Very nice. I like the color choice. Do you have a paint code for it? also what kind of wheels are you going with.

Jr 01-20-2009 12:12 PM

Nice build. How would you change a belt on that motor?

the idea of a SBC or BBC powered cuda makes me sick to my stomach, let alone a 2JZ... Just because EVS motors made a dyno queen with one, doesn't make it an innovative or cool idea.

please rethink that... :(

Just because EVS did what they did doesn't mean I want to copy them  the reason I want to use a 2JZ is because I already have a fully built 1200+hp capable setup, and I have well over $30k in it,yeah it might be a little laggy with my GT 47-88,but it will be far from a dyno queen,as I plan on beating the living p!ss out of it,and not make fancy videos with no dyno numbers, it will be my daily driver, I don't see anyone willing to spend 30k on my 2JZ set up ,so I can buy all aluminum 528 HEMI,so Toyota power will have to do, maybe later down the road if I don't like 2JZ ,I may swap it for a nice HEMI,but not anytime soon, who knows,by the time I get close to fitting the motor I just might go with HEMI,but the last thing I want is to have a car with same set up as next guy, dime a dozen resto-mod Cudas with a HEMI,

WSSix 01-23-2009 06:59 PM

very cool but I'm Toyota dumb when it comes to all the info your posted. What's the power output on that thing? How does the TT V8 compare to a big T 6? I'm expecting it to have less lag and much better every day usable torque. How wrong am I? That's a great color you chose.

Thanks, no dyno numbers yet, shooting for around 900hp to the wheels,You're right on the money:yes: twin turbo is alot more responsive versus single T6 frame turbo

motor info

stefan

what is the toyota motor weight .
i say do what ever the hell you want.this forum is about sharing the hobby not telling people what to do unless they ask....thats my 2 cents.
just curious what the aprox engine weight is because i would imagine you have alot of weight savings with the toyota combo vs. any v8 .
do you have to run an aftermarket control system to run a toyota engine comb? or can your use a factory wiring/comp to install in whatever? im curious what guys go through to put these toyota motors in something.

thanks
tom

Tom,

thanks for your input,
Toyota 2JZ-GTE weighs roughly 539lbs,though I haven't weighed the Garrett GT47-88 ,but I'd say somewhere around 80-90lbs and T-6 manifold around 30-35lbs,

You don't have to run aftermarket engine management, there were many Supras with stock ECU's running 10's,and a few add-ons like HKS VPC/GCC/SAFC combo ,or piggy-back MAP ECU,E-Manage,some were running G-Force(stock ECU with fuel cut removed,rev-limiter removed,e.t.c.) ,but eversince AEM came out with AEM EMS plug & play (so they say:lol: )engine management which completely eliminates stock ECU and any piggy-backs,it virtually has endless tunning settings with simple laptop plug in, from timing to fuel to boost and nitrous adjustments in any gear at any RPM's ,most guys started going that route, sure there was Motek and others, but they were and still are more complicated and alot more expensive ,to go with AEM EMS costs closeto $4k may be more or less depending on who's installing and tunning ,it's worth every penny when you have tens of thousands of dollars in a built motor and last thing you want is to rely on stock ECU with limited tunning

bumping an old thread but damn i love this car!

robu 09-03-2009 06:56 PM

did you ever come up with a paint code?

elitecustombody 09-06-2009 05:13 PM

it's a Jaguar special order color that was avaliable on mid 2000's Supercharged XJ ,I'll try to find the code tomorrow

70rs 09-06-2009 05:39 PM

That is an awesome Supra! I am glad to see it without a rear wing. To me it just looks cleaner and adds a touch of class to run without it. Very nice build!
Where did the engine originate? I am not too up on the import stuff, sorry for the ignorance. That is a import build I can really respect. Tons of labor, engineering and though went into that and it does not matter what brand it is at this point. Apple to oranges with the common coffee can exhaust import scene IMO. That has to be the best looking Supra I have seen. Did you ever get any dyno numbers or time slips from the strip or auto x? :hail:

tones2SS 09-07-2009 09:19 AM

WOW!! Killer car. (I don't know how I missed this thread?)
Paint looks killer. Actually, the whole car overall looks killer. Great job!
Have you any videos of start up or idle/revving? Would like to hear her purrrr...
