RS Performance 70 Challenger
6 Attachment(s)
Here is a '70 Challenger that we have been building on and off for the past 2 years. The car is now in the final stages ready for paint.
Rendering by Eric Brockmeyer, Brockmeyer Designs http://rsperformanceconcepts.com/gal...images/(1).jpg It started off as a very solid car. We had originally planned to put a chassis under it, but then decided the floors were too nice to cut out. It is pretty rare to find a car that required no rust repair in the mid-west. (the '70 convertible behind it in the picture is another story.) Most of these pictures were taken at our old shop just before the clutter over took it! |
That ought to be a pretty nice ride !!!

Need some input on the color.
It is going to be a solid grey. No metallics or pearls. We have sprayed out three colors on a test panel with flat black which will be used on the T/A sytle stripe. We are leaning towards the one on the left. The center color almost looks too much liker a glossy primer, and the one on the right might be too dark w/ the flat black. Any thoughts???? |
Thanks Tom and Jason. We are trying to get this one and a few more PT cars out for this summer.

Nice build, this car is going to be amazing.

She is coming along nicely!
I do agree with you on the color. Like someone else had stated earlier, you guys turn out some nice rides. And not just Chevys!!!  |
Thanks, we have a good Mopar collection underway in the shop in addition to this car. We have a '70 Challenger Convertible, Twin Turbo Viper Powered '69 Charger, and a Dart that the owner wants to build an Auto X sleeper out of.
|

a few of questions, what are you planning for the tag? what kind of rear suspension setup are you going with, straight axle or IRS?coilovers or air?did you guys make the front k-member? keep up great work |

Started pulling the trigger on the paint today. Decided to mix up a custom color somewhere inbetween the two colors we were looking at. Here are a few pics of a some panels after clearing them. (I was playing with settings on the camera, so the parts look like different colors from one pic to the next) There is another batch in the booth right now. I'll post more in a half hour when they are done.
The body was final primed and is being blocked again. That should be shot in a few days. Need to shoot the underside and then the firewall/inner fender area as well. |
Nice - man you are really keeping us up to date - I like it!

Here are a few more pics of suspension parts and small brackets ready to come out of the booth. All were sprayed in a charcoal metallic with a flat clear coat. Other suspension parts are now in the booth and being sprayed in a flat silver to show detail and contrast under the car.

Very nice work! That will be a badazz ride.

A few more progress pics.
The doors have been all rubbed out, working now on the fenders and deck lid Painting a good portion of the remaining suspension components The firewall/inner fender area is prepped and ready for paint. |
That car looks ****ing sick in white primer!! That's the color I am going with when I get a Challenger/Cuda!!
I think you should have gone with blue over the grey, helps it pop more with the stripes and black rims.. |

The car looks great. Sooner or later I am going to have to stop by and visit your new shop.
PS - does this one need a set of hood pins ? |
Trey - Thanks, the car does look pretty sick in just primer. These cars have such a cool wedge shape to them that it doesn't take too much to enhance the look. We played around with a light blue and even looked at the BMW Laguna Blue from the last M3 body style. I haven't seen a car painted anywhere near this color so that had a lot of influence. Plus, it looks bitchen in person!
Haulin - Sorry, the owner wants to keep this car on the DL until it is completed or very close to being completed. The car is absolutely insane. There are so many minor body mods and custom made panels on this car. I think there are more labor hours in the metal work than any other complete car we have built. Sorry for the tease...we'll get to post some pics shortly Syborg I think we are using a stock style hood latch on this one. What did you have in mind for hood pins? We may nave a few other projects that can use 'em. You should definitely come out to the shop. We have a lot of unique projects going on currently. Unfortunately, 5 of them the owners do not ant any pics getting out. I'll try to persuade them more on this subject. You are in the Chicao area, right? |

?? How's Pete doing We have plenty of different style hood pins. You've used them your latest Chevelle project. www.hoodpins.com |
I would like to know is what are and where did you get the headlights? I have been looking for a projector style for my 72 challenger. Thanks
|
The tail lights are stock. Instead of mounting them from the outside with the chrome bezel and reverse light in the center, we remade the rear body panel. The tail lights now mount from inside the trunk. The lights have a step in them that fite perfectly into the new, smaller opening we made. This makes the visable section of the tail light smaller and looks like it is almost flushmounted to the rear body panel.

|

|
wow - looks great
|
AWESOME!!!!:wow:
|
Thanks everyone, the car is coming out nicely. The paint is always nerve racking wondering if you are going to like the color on the car or not. The spray out panels help, but you can never tell until the car is painted. We are real happy with the color on this one. It should look great with the graphics.
Doom - every car that we paint gets done on a rotisserie. We will not paint a car any other way. |
Firewall looks really nice......
thanks for updating the pics.. |
I Was In The Area Today, Friday And Stopped By. You Have Some Great Looking Cars In The Showroom And Garage Bays. Didnt See The Challenger Though. Probably Tucked Away In The Back. Still Going To Have The Monthly Shows In The Parking Lot This Summer? Keep Up The Good Work. Dave
