Fill Up your tank
Just a bit ago I got a call from an employee from a oil co. out of the houston area saying to fill up my cars. The hurricane could possibly do damages to oil refinerys on the gulf and prices could go up to $4-5 a gallon :willy: not to mention shortages if the refinerys are messed up. It can take years to rebuild if they were messed up. Just thought I would let you guys know what I was told "just in case" to maybe go ahead and fill your cars up on your way home from work.

They say the same thing every time mother nature sneezes, I doubt this time will be any different. The "speculating" (panicing :willy: ) is what causes it to jump every time, not the effects from the storm.
I'm not worried :) |
I filled up yesterday, the price was $2.43... and it seemed cheap! LOL

Well they upgraded Rita to a Cat-5 earlier today. This one is gonna be no-joke.

$2.43!?!?!?! so do you think the station would be okay if a brought a tanker and filled up....... still sitting at $2.99-3.05 here..... being blamed on hurricanes...which is kinda strange...cuz the last time i checked... most of the fuel on the west coast doesnt come from down there.
|
$2.44 in a Hurricane Katrina disaster area. Was $2.49 before the hurricane.

oh I agree on how the media and everything else makes it out to be: "gas shortages" "hurry and fill up" At the same time, I might as well fill up and save some money then have to fill up tommorow when the prices are crazy.
I am not worried about it, but I always am about saving a little extra money. I am a college kid, we have to use are money for more important things like Ramen Noodles & Cocoa Pebbles! -Survival food :) Last Sat. I drove to Tulsa, Ok for work 2.39 a gallon, drove back to Fayetteville, AR-2.69 a gallon. Only 1.5 hours away. |
3.15 in santa barbara california

Right after Katrina, our gas prices spiked to $2.99, but it's slowly been coming back down to where it is now, $2.43, which was 89 octane.

Yeah, but then I'd have to drive to Austin. No Spam for me! :D
|
I just trade cars with the woman and give her my credit card when my car gets low... it's always about 10 cents cheaper in Austin, and the card has a low limit incase she decides to go shopping instead of going to work :D
|
You guys suck. I got all giddy when I paid 2.89 for gas two weeks ago.
|
we're roughly on $10.00/gallon now in Britain with talk of it going up again soon. We've even had blockades at the refineries & go slows on the motorways by action groups, causing tailbacks up to 10 miles to cause congestion to try & force the government to do something about the high prices :willy:
|
i think we as americans are spoiled by the cheaper prices..... i know there are several factors to why its about 200% less here, and really we have no room to complain about it. but when gas price spikes are generated by the media, before whatever event caused the spike, would ever have time to impact it... then we know we are gettin hosed so that the big companies can take advantage of the bad situations in order to make a lil extra profit. we bitch and whine because this hits everybody where it hurts most...in the wallet.
|
hehe... you guys are gonna hate me... but about 3 feet from my house is a gas station for $2.35... and $2.45 for 92 Octane :D
geez, i never thought i'd be happy to see $1.80 gasoline. |
somewhere Chicken little is smiling.

I live in Harlingen Tx and the gas is 2.79 and I use super which is 2.99 a gallon. I am 28 yrs old and when I started driving 12yrs ago gas was .84, Now that was awesome.

So the moral of this story is VOTE and VOTE OFTEN, because if nothing changes.....nothing changes!
