Recaro Sports...

4th gen trans am/firebird seats here.
|
Recaro Sports. Extremely comfortable. I love them.
|
budget Honda Prelud, don't know the year but they have all mechanical adjustable lumbar, bolster support and even a seat back memory no electric to deal with and 2/3 the weight of the factory 2nd Gen seats and give more leg room for the rear seat (not that anyone ever rids in the back)
|
Sparco Chrono Roads...very supportive and comfortable. Cool too!

If you're looking for something that will hold you in the seat as you fly around a corner, do not even consider Corvette seats from the 5th or 6th generations. The C5/6 seats are notorious for being completely inadequit for that type of car. C4 sport seats are a good choice if you're a narrower person. The later C4 seats are pretty good(94-96). The late 80s early 90s sport seats are my favorite because the lumbar controls are right there on top next to your thigh. I'm a narrow dude though so I fit nice and snug in the seats.

63 series Kirkey. Unbelievably comfortable... however, it's not for everyone.

I was going for similar to factory-stock appearance, but with more lateral-support. I went with the Procar Rally 2000, recovered with '69 Parchment.

Arizen

Not sure if they are still around, but I had a set of Arizen seats made to order with OER factory replacement 1969 Pontiac Parchment vinyl. I had a matching rear cover made as well, all for around a grand shipped including brackets. That is hard to beat. I had mine stitched up to match the 4th gen pattern, since I like it alot and I have the deluxe door panels, so they wouldn't clash. I also posted a pic of a black leather set in a 4th gen without the harness slots for comparo.

Recaro.

just got some sparco milano 2 seats. so far just by sitting in them since my car isn't driveable at the moment they are really comfortable. i was thinking about going with corbeau but some people say the material fades fast.

Not sure if it's possible for you, but see if there is a dealer near you that you can try some out. What looks cool versus what is practical are two different things when it comes to seats. You have to know what your realistic uses are. I wouldn't buy a Kirkey or another one piece comp only seat unless it was a track only car. I have buddies that have done that and it sucks after awhile...so does climing over roll cage bars, but that's a different matter...been there done that on the street.
If you're skinny, the Sparco's are sweet and I would recommend them, if you are not, that could be a problem. A good friend has the Torino's in his ride, I couldn't feel my balls after 20 minutes. I'm 6'2" with a 36-38" waist depending on the season, and a 48-50" chest. So that is a consideration. |
