Will pay for rendering!!! Hahaha
Hey guys,
Been on this site for a while and am in awe of pretty much every car on here. Been working on my project for a while now and have really waivered on the paint scheme. I have a '78 TA and the obvious choice most shoot for is the "Bandit" look and while I love it, unfortunately Year One beat me to what I wanted to do several years back and absolutely nailed it IMHO. SO...I want to do something different and have a few ideas. If anyone can help please PM me or post here and I'll contact you with what I am looking to do. I will definitely pay for any services rendered. Thanks in advance and sorry if this is in the wrong section. Dave |
There are a couple of guys who renderings here. Do a search.
Ben Hermance does them and Kris Horton. Both do excellent work:thumbsup: . There are others but, these guys come to mind at the moment. |
Thanks a lot 2tone! I'll shoot Ben a PM.

Hello dude, I am probably getting a 78 T/A also, if you want to share some ideas let me know. If you can get me some renderings also that would be great. Maybe you can use one color scheme and I can go with another.

also try Carter Hickman

Thanks guys! I talked with Ben several times and we will be working something out in the summer...as is evidence by everyone who has had work done by him, he's a very busy guy! Super nice though and a lot of great ideas!

Hi Dave,
As I'm sure you've noticed from the responses, you've got lots of great options. On the hand-drawn side of things you've got great guys like Ben, Jason, John McBride, and several others. If you're looking for something in 3D, then there's always myself or Carter. I think you'll be very happy with your choice. Ben's a cool cat and everyone always enjoys seeing his work. On a sidenote, it's cool to see the late 2nd-gen T/As getting more and more love these days! I've got one in the works as well (for a client though, not myself.) |
Older thread, but..
If someone wanted to mess around and try to do a render of their own car - what is the popular software out there? These all look great - I really like the look of the CHD renders - what does he use? Thanks Jeff PS - I'm painfully aware that whatever I design will likely resemble this: http://www.moonbattery.com/flintstones_car.jpg ...but it would be fun to try ;) |
If you're looking to do digital art, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator are industry standards as far as 2D art. There's also tons of 3D modeling software like Solidworks, Modo, Rhino, 3DSMax, Maya, Alias and others.
For the most part I do a mix of hand drawn and digital for cost purposes, but I really enjoy doing art completely by hand. Pencils, pens and bond paper are cheap to get your ideas down on. |
Thanks for the tips. So it's common practice to do a sketch by hand, then layer over that in digital? I've been checking out some youtube vids but most of them are there to impress people with the speed at which artists can creat renderings....of course, it's hard to learn anything from that.

I'm having Carter do mine!!!

these things look expensive any idea what the average charge to get a rendering done?
|
I would do it for free, I work by hand, in my personal drawings I don't use color, since I'm no expert with it but I've been practicing with it and I might do a pretty nice job if someone give me a shot, again, work by hand... anyone interested?
if say yes, what style are you looking for? I already have a billion of ideas for it |
Prices depend on what you need. Many variables come into play when you're considering your rendering budget. Quick photoshop chops can easily handle a wheel and paint change but often aren't great for high-resolution garage art. If you like unique art of your project that looks like....well, art and can be converted into a large format poster then a rendering is what you need. When you start looking at multiple variations of paint and wheels, add in complex body mods, custom interiors, one-off wheels and project management, you can drive up the price. I've worked on quickie projects that were $150 and I've worked on major design projects that were in the $9K+ range. Most projects are under $800. More time=more money.
Liz Miles wrote an article featuring many of the artists/designers that hang out here. Here's a link, hopefully it helps out. If you have further questions, give any of us a call. http://www.popularhotrodding.com/hot...ce_design.html |
^yeah...
as I was saying, I could work for free, you can qualify the quality of my work, I just need that someone gives me a shot, I want to try working only by hand (since I have no software for design...), and for me, rendering by hand it's the real work... without disqualifying the work of the real designers, since their work is amazing, but I prefer working by hand, and if you're interested tell me, I work for free because I don't really have interest in the money right now btw: Ben Hermance, I ADMIRE you... |
Thanks Mex, I started off doing all my work free too just to get experience and opportunities. It's a tough road, lemme tell you.

Ben is a great artist and a great guy to boot! Has helped me out tremendously! I highly recommend him to anyone!
