C6-57 interior progress

5 Attachment(s)
Well Guys I got the truck back from Upholstry last saturday. It looks pretty nice. We are working on finishing up some loose ends and waiting on a few parts from The machine shop. Gas pedal, alternator bracket, just to make a few. The plan is to unveil the car at Del Mar next month and see if we can get some plastic statue.

I will keep you posted

Rodger

Rodger--I think u need to make your own "IRONWORKS" trophy and present it to yourself!! You deserve it--judges w/plastic trophies won't do this truck justice!! You just don't know how much we have learned watching this build-x4 on seeing the final product jim

bentfab 03-06-2009 06:43 PM

Not to shabby. Well done Roger. See you at Del Mar.

Well thanks for the props guys. I'm not really a trophy hound, but it would be cool. I would rather keep working some of the crazy projects we have been blessed with that belong to great customers. We have quite a few super cool projects that the economy has slowed down a bit but when they are done this truck would not even be worthy to pull their trailer.

I'm thinking about Columbus, but it is a long way to drive and few months off. Brycen who works for me is from Columbus and would love to take it back their to show is buddies, we will see what is in the cards as far as that.

Thanks again guys.

Hey Rodger
Is there a false floor put in this truck? Looks like battery is located under carpet on passenger side, plus you have footprints on the carpet LOL
Dave

ironworks 03-06-2009 11:07 PM

Ye sir false floor and the foot print is from my wife, she paid for the upholstry so she can make a mess I suppose.

haha

ironworks 03-09-2009 04:52 PM

Yes sir, Bob was here a few weeks ago, so maybe 2 months. They want to do a like 15 page feature when it is all done.

Garage Dog 65 03-09-2009 04:54 PM

Can't wait to buy that copy !

ironworks 03-09-2009 05:17 PM

So why don't you just fly out to Del Mar and See Johns 66 on display in our booth and see them both in person. I bet you could get you "NEW MEXICAN BEST FRIEND" to go.

That is NEW MEXICAN, not NEW, MEXICAN. Just to be clear.

Kendall Burleson 03-09-2009 05:46 PM

killer interior you must be excited to get to drive it around the country side:hail: :hail:

I'm more excited to be able to start on one of the million other ideas that I have. I have 2 in my head that I'm dying to build, We are starting on one of my 2 dreams here in the next day or so that may be close to my dream so I may have to do the other.

Project 1 Crazy triple throw down 69 camaro, Heavy Heavy Heavy body mods with a crazy tube/ machine parts chassis and about 1000 horsepower. With a static ride height of possibly 4 inches. This is the one that started the most radical 69 post from a few months ago. Well the customer called me back and sent me the car. So let the GAMES begin.

Project 2 Retractable hard top 55 chevy. Like a new lexus or volvo. With a wedge sectioned body and of course a tube chassis. I have been thinking about this one for a while.

I'm kinda weird, I live for the build, I eat sleep and breathe the build and the creativity.

AS a side note the camaro's will out number the novas tommorrow, 5 to 4.

Rodger

Kendall Burleson 03-09-2009 06:22 PM

Are you going to install a t-tube are drive shaft in it what rear are you thinking?

torque tube with transaxle. I like those, less weight up front and more room for my size 15's, in both cars

Rodger

Rodger,
Look at the BMW Z4, less moving parts for retractable top than the lexus/volvo. My nephew has one and its a pretty trick operation.
Dave

It gets pretty ugly when the top retracts and opens in his head.

Back to the truck: Last I heard the paints needs a little buffing.........................

I'd love to fly in and see you guys, the farm truck and the Nova - just no time with this new job. Been a real eye opener the past 8 months and a truck load of stress 4 sure (should have taken your advice).... I don't see how you shop owners get time to travel to attend shows and races - and then build your stuff in your 'spare' time.

And I haven't even called Mick in a couple months to see how he's doing - he probably thinks I've died... Hope his car is making some progress there too.

Enjoy Del Mar - and take plenty of Sharpie's for all the autographs !

Hard to believe a guy that rides this to work and calls it his "HOG" has that cool of a truck

Man that brings back memories, it was so much fun that that day when your wife let me ride "YOUR" bike.
