then... put some miles on the car in Sunny California... ...maybe a change of tires... and some more fun... until the weekend... when I'm looking forward to seeing if "I suck less" on the autocross in Costa Mesa... then... we'll see... |
I thought we were installing a transaxle and tube chassis, before saturday.
Nova to Camaro count now- 4 to 5 |
Sounds like a great plan....enjoy!!
|
Rodger, it's not a secret if you post it first...
|
I just got off the phone with Rodger!
DAMMIT JAMES! You're throwing off the zen that is Ironworks! It used to be a nice balance of Novas and Camaros and now you've thrown off that balance! Welcome to the Ironworks family! Your screwed!! John |
John...
Your car is AMAZING... pictures do not do it justice. There is so much about it... I was just blown away. :hail: As far as upsetting the balance... well... that many Nova's in one place can't be healthy anyways... |

Thanks James! I've heard nothing but good things about you from Rodger! John |

That is a long haul! Hope everything comes together with the t-56 and brakes. Looking forward to seeing you run the car in Costa Mesa.
|
Long day... I think that I might have found one of my transmission issues today and definately found a brake issue.
Tomorrow I have to log some miles to be sure. Hat's off to Rodger and everybody at Ironworks... awesome hospitality and great support. It's really appreciated and badly needed. |
Man this car hauls major ass. James is working out a few minior issues but man she runs and stops hard. You should hear how good the car sounds when He does a drives by or Flys by the shop at like 85 mph. MAN
Nice Car James, Don't worry about the black marks out front, when they are 12" wide that is COOL. |
Very cool James. Hope the drive down was not to bad? Ironworks looks like a badass place to hang and do some wrenching, lucky you. Now go burn some rubber...
|
Jimmy, could not find anything specific to the break in process for the Black Gold Differential. Only thing I could find states that you should use "good" lube such as the Redline High Impact. No additives unless you use ordinary lube. Might just need to put some miles on it and then assess the deal. Good to chat with you today, looking forward to buying you adult beverages this weekend, drive safe and have fun 'til then.

Jim's car and Stiller's '69 We were going to do testing but the track bumped us so it's just a photo shoot this time. You coming to Costa Mesa? |
I just love this car! Just AWESOME!
|
Steve, I will be going up see the Costa Mesa show, most likely on Saturday. When are you going to be smushing cones? Do you have an idea of when Jim will be running in the Mighty Muscle event, he wasn't sure when he'd be driving in anger. I'd like to be there for that portion, obviously!
Highjack: Jeff's car came out really nice, I still don't care for the wheels, but I love the interior work he did on the car. Obviously the work that BOS did is outstanding too. Funny, Jeff was my first customer, Jim was my second! See you this weekend!! Mark |

Love Jeff's car, the wheels aren't my style but they are nice and the whole car has a cool "street machine" vibe but with a killer suspension. He really did a nice job on the rear seat with the three link. You can take Penny for a spin.. I will be running the cheepo spoiler this time :) |
Another long day - finished the nut and bolt, played with ride height, fiddled with the dash, made some minor exhaust tweaks, and ultimately put some really fun miles on the car.
There are still some lingering issues that I need to figure out (like a pesky vibration that comes in at 57 mph but is all gone by about 75) but nothing that seems to be major. Looking forward to Fontana tomorrow and a cruise up the PCH Friday and then Costa Mesa for the weekend. I can't promise that I'll set the world on fire but at the very least it should be memorable. |
have a great time James.

Such a gorgeous Camaro....

Nice ride!
If it is speed sensetive vibration...at the speeds you speak of regardless of gear or RPM it is a tire ballance issue.
Can't wait for you to get the car sorted out and start beating on it. |

Spoiler
Speaking of spoilers, does someone fabricate (and sell) the sheet metal type adjustable ones like on James Camaro?
Thanks, Ron |
We shot the car today for Camaro Performers at California Speedway.
Here's a shot not good enough for the magazine as a teaser. :) http://i42.tinypic.com/25tdn2s.jpg Beautiful Car! |

It was a really fun experience at California Speedway yesterday with Steve. I think that we made his job a little bit tougher since part of our job was to direct the light where he needed it - unfortunately, it's been six months since we last saw real sun and we were slightly confused by it...
As ususal, a touch of new car drama with the '67 when I blew a fuse trying to roll both windows up at the same time :faint: - sigh... Not wanting to rist taking anything away from Steve - my favorite picture of the day (as taken by my wife) and new desktop background: http://www.onelapcamaro.com/california/socal%20ps1.jpg It was another long day but we're finally in Newport and getting ready for a cruise down to Huntington before the Goodguys show tomorrow. We'll be somewhere between the Mighty Muscle corral and the autocross all weekend. |
James, that is one beautiful car.:hail:
ENJOY!!! |
Definately enjoing it today.
Went for a nice 50 mile cruise up the Pacific Coast Highway in the middle of the afternoon with no issues (aside from my 57 mph vibration). Temperature never got over 185 - which is a nice change from my old dinosaur big and small blocks. It's still having a fast idle issue but I think that is because of my redneck IAT sensor location. Nice way to end the week... now bring on the weekend... I'm tired of feathering first and second gear! |
