Just picked up the wheels at Forgeline this morning I will post pictures over the weekend. With the wheels we can now start building the Dana 60 for the rear and start working on geometry for the front then return the wheels to Forgeline for final finish.

Here is a little information on the project.
We are moving along for a mid August debut at CNE. The project began as 2007 Chevy Colorado 4cyl with a little over 100 miles on the odometer getting an LS7 with a T-56 to do some drifting. Over the first few months of the build the project evolved into what it is today. Project Colorado SPEED will tour North America with GM late 2009-2010 making stops at GM corporate events. It will also be at SEMA in the MBRPinc booth in 2009. The build began with the LS7 Crate motor being sent out for some upgrades, the original configuration of rods and pistons would not handle high boost levels. The Engine was sent to Exotic Performance Plus for rods, pistons and Custom cam. The suspension had to receive special attention due to the variety of uses Drag racing, Drifting, and Road Racing. GM will be doing some Drifting Exhibitions, and we will be taking it to the Silver State Classic, and Texas Mile. This created a challenge in making a suspension that would perform at all levels focusing on road race and being ok for other events. This led to a Grand National style setup with a Floater Dana 60 and truck arm in the rear and custom coil over a-arm system in front. This will provide durability and performance for high speed runs and average performance at the strip. The current state of the project is the final fit for the roll cage and reassembly of the interior. The rear suspension truck arm and spring perches are installed Shocks, Brakes From AFCO have just arrived and I have just picked up the test fit wheels from Forgeline allowing us to build the rear end and figure suspension geometry for the front. The chassis work will be complete in the next few weeks and moving to the Body shop for sheet metal fabrication and paint. |

Here are some updated Photos.
We would like to thank Scott and the crew at Forgeline for all the help in using the unfinished wheels for suspension mock-up. |
On the drawing is that like 3" tubing for the roll cage I see in the bed!
|
Actually 4"..... just kidding. The tubing did end up larger than I thought though? Maybe we will fix it if they ask me for another rendering.
|
Things are moving along should be moving to MBRP for Exhaust and sheet metal in the coming weeks and back to Exotic Performance Plus in Indiana to put the finishing touches on engine, electrical and tuning.

Here are some updates from Extreme Customs. The fuel door has been removed and the interior of the bed is being rebuilt. The Forgeline wheels were put on to fit, and Start building custom fender flares due to the over size wheel wells in the rear. In these images the Colorado is sitting above actual ride height with correct spring rates and final assembly we will be sitting around 5" from rocker to ground.

The funny thing I was thinking the rear needed to be a little lower in he rear and then I saw the last picture and the two guy's in the bed as lowering agent. Looks really good with the rear down. |
We needed a little weight to achieve 50/50 weight dist. we have 29 gallon fuel cell but the rear spring perches and front coilover mounts are up for ease of transport from chassis shop to body shop. When it returns from Exotic Performance it will hit the scales and get correct spring rates and height adjustment.

Any updates?
