KYTP 1970 Camaro Build
I sold my 2002 Z28. Made a 17hr round trip to pick up this 1970 Camaro. Is needs a roof skin but other wise is 95% rust free.
The plan is to build a budget minded 2nd GEN PT Camaro. -LS1/T56 Combo -Mild Suspension Upgrades -Wilwood Brakes -CCW or like wheels and 18" tires -Solid color paint Pretty much a solid handling, good looking car. Pics when I got it home: http://inlinethumb26.webshots.com/44...500x500Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb55.webshots.com/36...500x500Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb62.webshots.com/41...500x500Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb17.webshots.com/42...500x500Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb39.webshots.com/42...500x500Q85.jpg |
Me and a buddy spent a little time with the car last night. managed to pull the seats and rear carpet to check the floors. Spent a little time on the roof too.

If you are selling stuff from it. I need one of the seat belt buckles. Just asking. If not great project. GO SECOND GENS
|
It will be great to see another 2nd gen getting the treatment. I know they are not too popular yet, because I will post updates to my build thread and no one even looks at it, but they are great cars. I am sure the appreciation of them will go up soon.
Plus, I keep thinking, people are going to be tired of 69 Camaros soon, right? |

2nd gen
Great to see another second gen project. I have always been a fan of them. I am also working on a 70R/S myself called project Re-Peeled, let me know if you need any body panels or suspension parts I am authorized Goodmark dealer & Heidts suspension dealer.

Was this car on ebay? I saw a 2nd Gen with the roof smashed in from a car carrier or something.

The plan is to keep the car with in a realistic budget for the average guy. I amy get into building some of these cars. I have the turbo thing nailed down at the shop. Looking at bring my best freind who is a body guy on board and looking into new venues. |
theres alot of options these days
Are you going twins? Check with Mike www.musclerodz.com hes a sponsor for panels etc |
Nothing really to update. I traded the 396 I got with the car for a Roof skin and lower passenger side fender panel. That should round out the body work end of the car after I get my new deck lid in.
I am still working on a build plan. I want to use the car to promote my Turbo shop for I am leaning towards a Twin Turbo setup on a SBC. As for a trans I am thinking about a 4L80E instead of a stick. I have a complete Richmond 6 Speed setup that should be here tomarrow. I just know how turbo engines like auto trannys to help load the engine and build boost. Then again with a smaller set of turbos the stick wont have any problems building boost eigther. End of my rambling... |
It looks like you have a nice build going there. I love second Gens. I like that hood you have on it . I had one on my 73 Z28 back in the 70's Good luck with the build.

Suspension plans...
This is what I am looking at for my 70 Camaro Project:
70-81 Racing front end kit 2CS-835 $679.00 67-92 F-body 600 steering box kit 2CS-838 $559.00 67-81 Solid Body Bushings OCF-801 $93.00 70-81 Sub Frame Connectors 2CF-821 $169.00 70-81 Comp kit W/adjustable shocks 2CS-436 $739.00 Front and rear sway bars $379 All from Pro Touring F-Body. Total $2618 I am not a open track racer or avid auto-x guy. I just like to have a well sorted car that is able to handle when pushed, yet be compliant enough for a 4-5 hour highway drive to a car show or two. |
Here are some updates: Nothing really new. Benn busy at the shop with customer turbo setups. My buddy has been working on the cmaro a little at a time. Found some rust issues that we were not expecting, as well as some damage fromt he trailor ramp dropping on the roof. Its all fixable. Just time and Money.

He knows what he is doing. He had already cut out alot of the bracing before I took the pics. I have to make some new bracing for the Quarter and such now. Just more work as usual... |
I have decide to go toward a more street strip setup. It will be a quicker and far cheaper build, but will be just as much fun.
We got the new Roof skin and passenger 1/4 on last night. Still have plenty of body work left to do before paint. http://inlinethumb58.webshots.com/45...500x500Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb04.webshots.com/42...500x500Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb62.webshots.com/45...500x500Q85.jpg |
