Wow!!!
I heard on the news today in Worcester, MA, there were a BUNCH of layoffs.
The city laid off 44 policemen, 27 firemen, 37 department works people, & 42 town hall workers!! Man, that is a lot of layoffs!!:_paranoid :wow: I wish those that got laid off the best. |
Sign of the times man,I'm sorry to say I don't think we've seen the bottom yet though...
|
Strange thing is, here in L.A., LAPD is actively recruiting more cops! Nurses are in big demand out here too!

Sounds like the town is in fincial trouble and with 44 police officer now of the force I can only imagine how things will get.
|
Police, Fire and Medical are the three things I want to always be strong and ready.
|
You never here a polition getting laid off!!!!
|
In the intreast of full disclosure Worcester has been on a downward spiral for over 10 years.
hopefully it turns around for them soon. good luck to any and all effected |
Mass as a whole is on a downward spiral. Because of taxes, people and businesses have been fleeing to New Hampshire. Connecticut is in the same boat for the most part. I certainly wouldn't be laying off police, fire, and medical though. I'd look elsewhere first if at all possible.

It's just a shame that all this has to happen. A real shame. |
They're possibly laying off 63 firemen, my cousin is #63. Did you see 3 weeks ago the Police Academy graduated 36 and after the ceremony took their badges back?
My father-in-law works for city hall. He just finished up the budget and barely made it through the cut. Of 300 non-union city employees, 150 were laid off. This state is a totally corrupt, completely mismanaged sewer and it deserves to be in this position. It's completely self-inflicted misery, and I hope the rest of the country can learn from our screw ups. Unfortunately, I don't have a prayer of escaping for the foreseeable future.:censored: |

BTW...I am a state employee lucky enough to still have my job and working my a#$ off to make sure I keep it. |

Police jobs still aren't in demand here, I have an Associates and Bachelors in Criminal Justice and can't use it due to this economy. |

But, once the economy gets back to order, the demand should be there again. |

At least I can say that I didn't. It's bigger than that though, it's the backwards way of thinking here. Blame the voters, I do.
We currently have one of the highest exodus rates in the country (12th) and we were hovering around 2nd-6th for a long time: http://www.reedconstructiondata.com/...es-accelerate/ Another one from 06 http://www.boston.com/news/local/mas...5/mass_exodus/ |
These are the same people who have reelected Barney Frank for 25 (or so) years in a row.
Yikes.. |

I knew we should have built a fence.
I couldn't believe the whole thing where they wanted people who bought tires in NH to pay taxes on them. |
We'll be getting tracking devices for our inspection stickers I've heard. No joke.
