Are 4 wheel drive trucks just as fast as 2 wheel trucks?
is there any draw back from buying 4x4 besides weight? thinking about buying a new silverado and trading my old one in
|
Personally I always buy 4WD. We do get a little snow up here so that's one reason, resale is better, ect.

Faster for drag racing, plus 4x4 is great for resale.

what if you put it into 4 wheel drive in theory doesn't that kinda make it all wheel drive and isn't the ss silverado all wheel drive?
|
Exactly why 4x4 rules truck racing.

I would go with a 4x4 cause of the resale and it is nice to have it when you need it. If it was me I would look at a GMC I just like the styling better and the All Terrain package looks killer in black. |
If you are still moving to Montana? You will need it up there...
|
Get the 4X4 if you are moving anywhere where it gets snow.
You WILL NOT regret it. |
yeah i have a 4x4 now but where I have lived its never snowed.every time I have ever used 4x4 i have always gone looking for a mud puddle lol.but after driving the new Silverado last night i didn't really see much difference so i think I'm just gonna go ahead and keep mine.

I test drove a new Silverado recently also, and honestly, I didn't feel or see much improvement over my 115K 1997 Silverado. I kept mine...guess it's treated me well all these years. I'm a picky person too, having owned quite a few BMW's and Audi's. My '97 is one of the only years with a double layered roof, so it's alot quieter than most newer ones. And I didn't feel much diff in power from my old trusty 5.7L and 3.73's. Mine still rides like a caddy, even with my 4" lift. I suppose there is only so much they can do to improve them...and I guess the occassional rattle in mine is about all that belies it's age.
Maybe in 10 more years they'll actually make some improvements. It's no wonder they can't sell the things anymore at $40K. |
I would buy a 4x4 since they do hold there value more then a 2wd truck does.Yeah they weight more but some bolt ons can make it faster.

My brother and I have the sam exact truck but mine is 2wd, his is 4wd. Both are dodge ram 1500 with the hemi motor. both sport models.
I went 15.0 to his 15.4 racing side by side. |

remember that Parish ran 1 ton transfer case and halfshafts in a RCSB. no weight issues. The SS trucks are heavy My 01 4wd Yukon XL ran 12.02 in 2wd and 12.44 in 4wd. Of course I didn't have too much of a traction issue with only 460 Rear Wheel. If I was pushing in excess of 500rw I would run it in 4wd at the track, but would need to upgrade parts. |
