67 mustang "good parts"

im working on a 67 mustang that we want to update. it has a chassisworks (or fatman) mustang 2 front end on it. the car also has a 4.6 and 5 speed out of a 99ish cobra. it has shockwaves in the front, and the air-bar in the rear. we have had a few issues with that so its getting taken off. is there a bolt on front end for those cars like 1st gen Fbodys? i can't use anything that retains the shocktowers becouse someone cut all that off for the 4.6 to fit. also the rear, is there something i could use? ive searched a little and havnt found much. any help is thanked. :willy:

Try RRS
http://www.rrs-online.com/

slownova 04-27-2009 08:47 PM

yea. they make some nice peices, but the car doesn't have the original front end on it anymore, so i cant really use that.

Art Morrison then

slownova 04-27-2009 08:53 PM

*just noticed you said the front has been cut up, whoops*

RRS does make a nice 3 link rear end set up though. might have to give them a call. anyone used the new fatman set up? http://www.fatmanfab.com/catalogpage.php?page=30
looks nice, not cheap, but a option.

yea, im starting to think it would be easier to find a front stub and put it back on the car  but then the 4.6 wouldn't fit and id be back at sq one.

i do relise that. im just waving all my options before i get something "built" for the car. i didn't know if there was a bolt in style front end like the one on the car. can you use a c5 style front end? is the track width enough to make it work? that question could probually be answered by a simple call to art morrison though.

customcam 04-27-2009 09:14 PM

thats what i would do + that could narrow it an inch or so to get a good tucked in wheel ;)

slownova 04-28-2009 01:08 AM

very possible. maybe they will jump on here and answer a couple questions before i call.

Check out Griggs Racing Products.. I have used their stuff on the early Mustangs and it works really well. It also uses the late model brakes and steering components, so it leaves things open for alot of different brake choices. And you don't have to have the factory shock towers to use their stuff. They also make a K-member the is ready to accept a 4.6...

Brian what is wrong with the Mustang II stuff in the front? What issues are you having?

I was thinking the same thing. An MII spindle can be made to work if you have the latitude to modify the arms and mounting points.

I believe FATman Fab makes a tubular front clip

http://www.fatmanfab.com/catalogpage.php?page=30

check out this page, it fits the 4.6 and it looks like a new firewall forward front end. looks costly though

a alingment issue that a few have tried to do with no change, goes thru bushings on the right upper a arm, for some odd reason the bushings on the lower part of the shockwave keep pushing out, its basictly a pro street front clip. if i can make it work better with a a-arm swap or something id think about it, but im not going to re-work the mounts. owner of the car says hes sick of dealing with it, brought it to me, and wants it to out handle his 07 shelby. i can't say no!

thanks. i mentioned that on the first page. it looks like a nice piece, but i cant find any reviews on it?

I am not aware of any bolt on front clips. There is nothing to bolt to on a Mustang. You will lamost have to graft the front of a full frame into it, maybe from the forward edge of the rear rails forward?

I am thinking it has to be a Morrison frame?

Your getting some serious bind, and I would suspect that something was installed incorrectly. Have you taken measurements of the suspension compared to the body of the car? Here is a link to a 68 same as 67 body dimension sheet - http://www.j2speedandcustom.com/img/...dimensions.jpg

It doesn't have the measurement from the body mounts to the lower control arm center??? I can't find one anywhere sorry.

slownova 04-29-2009 02:09 PM

the second time we tried to get it alingned, they put it on a frame machine and checked it all out. it was good. based off whoever built the rest of the car, that is one of the things we thought, but were wrong i guess. like i said, somethings wrong, no more guessing, doing it once, and forgeting it.
