Another option I have is to buy tags and title off a wrecked 69 camaro.

There is a guy in Texas with a VIN tag machine that can make reproduction VINs, but it requires serious police scrutiny, a letter from the president, and naked pictures of you wife before he will do one. We had to do one back in the day for a project someone sandblaster the VIN out of the dash. The hidden numbers matched the title, and the 50 title trace and theft check came back clean, so the police theft division filled out the paperwork required and shazam, problem solved.

I see no issue with it IF (BIG I F HERE) the hidden numbers match the clean traced title and ownership is clear.

Now your going to ask me who it is. I remember I found him in Hemmings Motor News and he was in Lubbock Texas, but for the life of me I cannot remember the company name

Also illegal.

Well I'm not about to give up making my $100k car streetable because of losing vin tags. I've already had a 50 state search done and my title is clean and I have a paper trail from previous owners. I have no problem working with the police, I have nothing to hide. I would like to contact the guy in Lubock TX if you can find him again.
Thanks

BTW: I do understand that people steal cars and do dishonest things but thats not my case.

I do not get Hemmings for years. The local book store should have it and he used to advertise in Chevy parts.

I have to compliment you sir! You have to be one of, if not the most helpful and accommodating vendor here! I have never used your services, nor purchased anything through you, but I have noticed that you are always willing to chip in with a bit of advice, all of it good!

Shiny Side Up!
Bill

Not sure if you called these guys or not. Google for "Chevycraft Lubbock Texas" came back with this as first result with a map to their door.

3414 Martin L King Blvd
Lubbock, TX 79404

EDIT: They also appeared to be listed in the Yellowpages under Products and Services: Restoration at one point in time. If they're still in business, I'd bet this is them.
