66 Chevelle Street Racecar/Protouring
3 Attachment(s)
After years of trolling these websites and collecting ideas and parts,i am finally going to start my project.66 Chevelle using a Howe stockcar front clip, morrison tri bar rear suspension, shortened 9in floater rearend with widefive hubs, front tubular upper and lower arms, tubular spindles, rack n pinion, widefive hubs,15 x 15 widefive beadlock rears and hopefully 15 x 10 widefive beadlocks up front, adjustable jacking bolts on every corner with 5" coilsprings. 2 x4 one off chassis w/ morrison style center member w/ exhaust cutout on the pass side and exiting in front of rt rear tire, nascar style. No rollcage some sort of a backseat, fully fabbed firewall and floor, no big $ items,383 stroker w/ a stick,4-5" rideheight, and massive tires tucked under.

Why no cage? I'm building a street car now, but I'm planning to do a cage, but I've struggled with the decision. I'm just interested in you reasoning as to why you're going cageless.
Thanks, Jerry |
Basically gonna be a art morrison max-g chassis which has outer rails and inner rails and alot of crossmembers making it plenty stiff. Also want the interior space not to be clutered by a cage and the body and chassis to be sep units, just a matter of preference Jerry,I have a full cage in my race truck, thats where its needed this is gonna be a sunday driver not a must.Later Rich

Lookin Good. Don't you love making sparks! Keep it up. We love pics! :lateral:
|
YAH MAN,if you aint making sparks you aint working, the easy route would have been to call Art Morrison and order mandrel bent rear frame rails and a center rail kit for their max-g chassis, but Id rather create all the curves and turns by cutting, shaping, welding and grinding, later Rich

This my intended ride height,4", Ive made provisions in the rear suspension to raise it to 5 and 6",the body is channelled so its even with the bottom of the rails, and all the components will be tucked up in the frame,Im going to build the headers so they dont hang down below that plane.Does anybody with completed projects with a ride height this low have any other precautions I should be aware of,thanks Rich

Nice built! Subscribed!

Thanks, still recovering from back surgeries and complications, but gonna start working on it next week and should have some progress pics up within a couple weeks.Just been dying to pickup the welder and a grinder for the last couple months

Man I love what you are doing with this car so far. It is the same direction I want to go with my build. What is the thickness of the 2x4 frame rails you are using? I was thinking about using 2x3 .083 wall, but after seeing yours I think I might do 2x4 as well since it allow me to hide the exhaust
|
i like they styling of this. I gotta come by the shop and check it out. The wide fives look sickk

No build page yet I have changed my mind with the direction I want to go so many times its crazy and I dont want to look like a scatterbrain. So Im still in the design/part collecting part right now. I even sold my car since it was a little too rough to work with. Plus it gives me more room in my budget for cool suspension parts :D I do have the whole summer off from school plenty of parts and a brand new welder so I hope to have a rolling chassis by september.
