Torch red or Viper Red??

I see alot of Viper red on here. What opinions do you guys have on these two colors?

Painting my car in a month?

I say Viper Red,you also may want to make a poll.

almcbri 10-09-2005 07:52 PM

What does Torch red look like? I like viper red. Boyd Red is an awesome red. Not trying to make your decision tougher though!

Jerebus67 10-09-2005 07:57 PM

Do you have any pics of Boyd red. Torch red is the color of the newer vettes

almcbri 10-09-2005 09:17 PM

here is a link of the bel air painted Boyd Red on his first season of American Hot Rod.

Boyd Red has a blue hue to it deep. Torch red has an orange hue to it and is bright. Read the Red Witch thread in this forum. Several reds were discussed there.

My car is Viper Red, check the pictures if you want too. It is supposed to have a more orange tint to it, but honestly its Red in all aspects of the word, and have a nice color in and out of the light. But they are pretty close. My vote is biasly Viper

You can also look at the Dodge Truck red, it might be a middle ground. Neds 69 Camaro on here has the Truck red.

If you want to see Torch Red, just look at 1997-2002 Corvettes painted red, that's the color. As Musclerodz indicated, it has more yellow in it (so it's definately more "orangey") and less intense than Viper Red, which contains less yellow.

I would say that if the plan is to do red with white Z28 stripes, then Viper red is probably a better choice, IMHO.

Another really eye-popping red is currently being used on the 2005-6 Audi A4.

The red used on the 2001-up honda S2000 is also a very nice red.

1973-74 Pontiac Buccaneer Red, as used on the TransAm at that time, was also a really great red.

Also, IMHO, the only way you should judge the color is outside, in natural sunlight.

Just some ideas.

The new Motion car red is great, ferrari looking red. Scott did you ever figure out what red that actually is or is it still a secret?

XcYZ 01-16-2006 08:20 PM

Stuart, I've been working over Joel and Larry at Baldwin-Motion, but they just won't give it up.

hey those cars look familiar.......

The nomad is over a gray base

The chevelle and willy's are over a white base, believe it or not it makes a difference with this color. It is one of the nicest reds out there IMHO

TonyG 01-19-2006 09:51 PM

The white base IS brighter than the gray base.. House of Kolors has some of the best bases and candies that I have seen.

sick65 01-20-2006 09:06 AM

Since it's darker, The gray base gives it a deeper finish.

Did you ever see the Test Panel that Kenny did when he was trying to find a color for the Willy's? He paint the Blue Blood Red over several different bases to see the shading effect. Looked pretty cool.
