Holden's new concept.

This car is freaking awsome. Seems like a Pro-Touring car to me :) .

Holden Efijy

IMO it really is not Pro Touring, but there is no doubt it is AWESOME!!!

BC69 10-14-2005 10:34 PM

When I first saw the picture I thought Hot-Rod, but after looking at the article, its a nice blend of hot rod, and pro-touring. A C5 chassis and nice engine...its just the look of it and the interior that make it a hot-rod.

Still a cool car! Thanks for sharing!

Build it.

That is all.

Derek69SS 10-14-2005 10:59 PM

Cool as a one-off concept, but I can't help but think "PT Cruiser" if the thing went into production.

Except a whole lot cooler  , but it was just built as a "look at us and what we are capable of doing" (and a way to boost employee moral) car for the auto shows.

Unlike the Monaro concept car of 1998, which relied on public suport to go into production, Holden says there are absolutely no plans to build the Efijy.

"It's all about fun," says spokesman Jason Laird. "We want people to be stunned by the car."

"There is no need to look into it for any sort of possibility of production. There is absolutely zero production intent.

"We did it because we could. We just wanted to do a fun show car. It's important designers have a creative outlet."
I agree that it is a hotrod, but I think it is a pro-touring hotrod :) . Air ride equipped Vette suspension, supercharged LS2, classic style with modern performance. Fits the bill to me, though I wouldn't call it a g-machine.

Ummgawa 10-18-2005 08:37 AM

If you build it they will come.

markss28 10-18-2005 09:07 AM

Looks like a fun car to cruise, I dont feel it is PT material, Based upon that it is to big and looks like it will roll or slide a little more then you would want it to. Plus I think vision would be limited. Other then that I would live to have one on Staturday night at the local Dairy Queen.

Speaking of... What's the story with the Ford Forty (or whatever it's called)? Will they be making it?

Diognes56 10-19-2005 02:37 AM

The Ford Forty-Nine was a concept from 2001, with a convertible version following in 2002. It does not seem likely to be made at this point, which is a shame, it was a good looking car (though I did not like the rear) and it was well recieved. Though it still could be made, with the Thunderbird is going away and all, maybe that means the last member of (that I know of) Ford's "Living Legends" lineup that has not been made. The GT, Mach-1, Thunderbird, and the Forty-Nine. Kind of makes you wonder.

Of course! Larry Erikson designed, Boyd built..... Cadzilla.

Who could forget?

Diognes56 10-19-2005 06:29 PM

Yeah, this kind of build has been done before and it will be done again, but if that takes anything away from it, then the same could be said for pro-touring '69 Camaros and red '32 Hi-boys. CadZZilla rocks, no doubt about it. So does Chezoom, RealMad, Speedstars, Scrape, and Lead Zephyr (just to name a few).
