What engine oil do you use?
I currently use royal purple full synthetic but I'm curious to see what you guys run?
Redline..Great stuff. Just had a engine in a race car rebuilt and the engine builder Tony Otto Jr insisted I use Redline. Apparently he even worked with them in testing oils in race engines. At the track the oil temp and pressure stayed very consistent. The engine was new and first time out you really pay attention to that stuff and all was well. The other day I toured the Redline facility where they make the stuff and had things explained to me that I will probably never understand. I'm sold on it. Nice folks.

Charley -- Did you talk oil weights to use? I had the owner of Pure Power tell me to only use 10-40... and that anything 'higher' (20/50 etc) was full of plastic fillers and such... and that those fillers affected the ring seal and blah blah blah... |
It is their 40 wt race oil. It also meets 15-40 weight specs.
Torco SR1 ... Great stuff and still has all the additives that are missing in many (most) oils.
Walmart brand 5w30
76 20w50

Mobil 1 full synthetic - use it in my racecar, street car and collector car. I've used it in my wifes Jeep since brand new, change it every 6000 miles - she now has 148,000 miles and it still looks fresh at each oil change.

Delo 400 15-40. It fits in my Cummins, my 2 440's and the lawnmowers.

I use his filters -- they filter 100% of your oil with a cleanable SS mesh filter... they're "expensive" --- but so are all the parts INSIDE my motors...LOL |
The diesel grade oils are supposed to have more of the better additives than regular "gas" oils, although they are reduced from what they used to be.
I was kidding about the Wally World oil. I run Valvoline VR1 20w50 racing oil when it's above say 70 degrees and will go to a lighter weight in the cooler months.

You're preaching to the choir. It's going to be 112 here Friday! My car is in hibernation. I'm going to be hanging out at the pool or lake drinking and ice cold beer on Friday instead of driving my car. :unibrow: Not all bad.
..but that's a "dry" heat
Actually it does make a huge difference buuuuuutttt 112 is just ridiculous. 100 doesn't phase me anymore.
