It's official, I'm a tree hugger, Gone Green
Not a new project but figured I would officially introduce it. 69 Camaro, stock sub-frame smoothed out, DSE everything, coil overs, arms, steering box, etc. Rear is Currie 9 inch with locker and DSE 4 bar, coil overs, Ricks stainless tank. Wheels are Forgeline 19's all around 8 and 11 wide, tires are Bridgestone 245/45/19 and 335/45/19. Engine is gen1 SBC, 421 with AFR heads, solid roller with Jesel shafts, combo should be good for 550 hp. Plan on running E85 (carb not done yet so race gas for now). Hughes built 4L80E, compushift controller etc (thinking of going with the paddle shift). Paint is Viper Snakeskin Green over the original panels in rear but repo stuff for front. Interior is still up in air but have a few things for it, Marquez door panels and Sparco seats. Going to try and run C6 vette gauges and surround grafted on to the stock dash. Just got it back from paint and will have to wait awhile for the funds to build up before we continue. I'm thinking of bolting the seats in and driving it as is but wife said No! We'll see about that! Thanks for all the help and the great deals from members on all the parts used.
can't seem to post pictures so i'll post a link. http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j.../camaro008.jpg http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j.../camaro001.jpg http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j.../camaro002.jpg |

love the color! :hail:
|
Wow, that will get some attention. I like the blacked out tailpan, too.
|
I like the color, what interior/underhood color are you thinking? Any stripes going on it?
Thanks for sharing!! |

Sounds like she's gonna be a really nice car by the list you have!  |
Under hood will be black and brushed aluminum, real low key. core support, inner fenders, bottom of hood, hinges, etc are a satin black. Firewall is body color. I've had a hard time with the stripe thing. For now my plan is to leave it as is and drive it some. I actually built some 1-18 scale diecast camaros to look at diff designs and one has the entire hood, cowl and top of fenders blacked out. I liked it but most didn't. The shop that painted it said about 85 percent of the people that stopped to look at it loved the color, the others hated it. Car was ralley green to start so i thought it should stay green just a more modern one.
That caddy is cool!! I figured the e-85 fuel had me covered for going green. Thanks for the comments guys! |
color match center on wheels? :D
|
Black powder paint (not hi-gloss) the wheels and add flat black or semi-flat hockey stripes, body color front bumper, Prodigy Smoked glass kit...done!! :unibrow:
Just my $.02 of course....certainly someone can Photochop it! |
Looks great, kudos to you for choosing such a radical color, keep us posted on the progress!

I wouldn't paint the wheels. I think it has a good balance just the way it is. |
That looks alot like HOK Limetime Pearl! It's always been one of my favorite colors on cars
|
That car looks KILLER in that color. I agree with awr68, maybe a touch of flat or satin black mixed in somwhere? But even without it that just rocks!

Any updates on this bad boy? |
That is a GREAT shade of green! I like it. Very different from the Normee stuff. I seriously don't think I'd stripe it at all, nor would I change the wheel color. I think it makes a statement enough of it's own. Only thing I might do would be black out the usual chrome pieces. Bumpers, window surround, door handles and locks, and grill. ...Maybe. Also, a peanut butter interior color would be cool against the exterior.
One more thing. I'd love to see the diecasts. I'm currently working on one for my Chevelle. It's going to represent somewhere between the current and concept stage. |
Great color! I was vearing towards a shade of green on my project also. What is your base coat done with, silver?
|
base coat was silver. Updates, not much going on with it right now, to many other things going on and moneys tight. it will probably be end of year before i can make any real progress. I'll keep everyone posted though. this weekend i might try to get a picture of the die cast posted so you can see the satin black i was thinking about.
|
Wow I love this color also. Between Matts Amethyst Red (Purple/LOL) 69 and your Viper Snakeskin Green 69 I think your color selections are spot on.
|
Color looks sharp, definitely catches attention. Like some of the other posts, I like the blacked out tail panel. I also like the wheels as is. Nice.
|
Love the color!!!

Goin Green
I'm a member over on the Pro-Touring site and am doing my 69 in DuPont Hot Hues Midori Sour Green. Your color looks great. Hope mine comes out as nice. What code and brand was your paint. I saw a viper in that green and thought it was very similar to color, I did't know it was a stock color though, cool. I too am having a hard time on the stripe question. I do like the flat black tail panel. Also I had envisioned the full flat black hood and fender area too, like a new Dodge Challenger I see in a magazine a while back, I thought that was nice. The flat black Hockey and tail panel I'm thinkin now. My interior will be the stock dark green for now but I am working on coming up with a buckskin one which should complement these colors well. You beat me to finished full paint though. Nice car.

I love the color! I've got a 70 Nova that I am getting closer to painting and the green I have chosen is hopefully real close to this color b/c your car looks great. You have any idea's for the interior yet? I was going to redo my full interior with a peanut butter color.
|
Awesome...
This car kinda reminds me of this Firebird that was featured in Street Machine Magazine in Australia... http://www.showwheels.com.au/imgs/ma...-0390_left.jpg http://www.showwheels.com.au/imgs/ma...0390_right.jpg http://www.showwheels.com.au/imgs/ma...-0392_left.jpg http://www.showwheels.com.au/imgs/ma...0392_right.jpg |
Munster, I was trying to beat you done after I saw yours posted! I saw yours when i was trying to decide what color of green to go with and knew we were going to be close. yours looks great!! I guess were in an un-official race to see who's will be on the road first!! J/K, i'm not going to be on the road anytime soon.
The paint is PPG on the Vipers, we test sprayed a sherwin williams and a PPG and liked the PPG better but friend with body shop uses another brand that he said i would love if i liked the PPG stuff. I just do not remember the brand right now. I'll see him this week and i'll ask. thanks for all the comments. |
Man I love this color. I cant wait to see it done.
