Congrat's to Charley and Stig-a-low

Nice article on Jackass in the latest issue of Hot Rod that came in the mail today......"Great Job" to all involved.........:hail: :hail:

Ken:thumbsup:

Steve1968LS2 07-16-2009 06:27 PM

It will be even better in a couple of months.. :)

And why did Hot Rod feel the need to ruin the color of Charley's car? They tried to turn it from Daytona Yellow to some kind of bright Canary yellow.. it didn't work.

However, the tech was excelent!

Very cool. That car and the builder(s), deserve all the credit they receive.
That is a KILLER car.

Got a copy tonight looks great:thumbsup: I am surprised there was no finsihed interior shot though.

Has anybody else plugged in the GM part numbers as listed in the article? They list part numbers for the ZR1 calipers and rotors. I plugged in the part numbers at a few online GM parts houses......
Brembo six piston caliper 25923833 & 25923832 for only $412.00 each
ZR1 Carbon ceramic rotors 25843121 for $1600.00 each ?
I thought I read somewhere the front brakes and calipers were like 10k?
Granted $1600.00 for a rotor is good chunk of change but if these mount the same as C6 do I can see them making their way on many builds.

Got my issue and that is a mighty fine Jackass :D . Too bad HotRod decided they liked canary yellow better and photochopped it  .

Does anyone know what spare donuts are being used to roll it around the shop? Maybe spares from a C6??? I'm gonna pick up a set for myself I think. Much better than worrying about damage to actual wheels.

Corvettes don't have spare tires.. just "fix flat" kits...

Hmm. I wondered about that since even my G8 doesn't have a spare. It looked from the pics like they were built to clear large brakes and rotors so that is why I thought maybe the C6. So now I'm curious what they might be from...

Or less at gmpartsdirect . I guess they came down in value.

Saw Camaro X on ebay, in blue.

Spare

They may be 17" spares from an 88-96 corvette. The 84-87 are 16" and won't clear C5 sized brakes. Expect to pay about $50 each on Ebay or the Corvette Forum. They could also be from a late model GTO as well.

The believe the carbon brakes are 10K for all four, plus the cost of new ZR1 bearings.

The "roller" are C-4 Vett spares used to clear the C-6 front suspension. I got them off Ebay for $20 - $35 each. They are aluminum and work great. Get the 17 not the 16 wheels.

You'll have to buy the issue to see the rest...:unibrow:

I also noticed the old '67 Buick Skylark funny car my dad built was also featured in a small segment.I have been trying to purchase this car from Nick Hardie who currently owns it,wish he'd just trade me for some musclecars and be done with it.My dad owned Brooklyn,Speed & Machine and campained a bunch of AA/GD dragsters through the years...this is the only F/C he ever built.
