Mike, did you build that car? Or know who did? That is incredible! I love the engine bay treatment and would like to know more about it. (so I can steal the ideas for mine LOL!)

fleetus macmullitz 07-19-2009 05:04 PM

Alan Johnson built it for Nathan Powell.

Thanks Mike!
They look awesome! That 4 pack gauge cluster in the center console looks almost like the 5th gen console. VERY COOL CAR!!

Rybar 07-20-2009 12:20 PM

That is a badass '69 right there. Definately different color scheme, but I really like it alot.

thanks

Thanks to all for the compliments. I would be glad to answer any questions about the car. I will try to post some construction photos over the next few days. I hate that I missed Columbus this year. I pulled a muscle in my back earlier in the week and I had to depend on Bob J. to represent the car. Troy said that they used a sun dial to time Bob on the autocross!!! Again thanks for the kind words about the car. Alan

Serpa69 07-21-2009 04:08 AM

It looks like you lowered the rear bumper and worked the sides of the bumper as well. I like the gray color in the engine bay

XcYZ 07-21-2009 05:33 AM

I love that engine bay.

Jr 07-21-2009 08:19 AM

Very nice color scheme. The engine bay looks hot!

Thanks for the info on the car Alan & checking out the site. You guys do stellar work & I'm sure all of look forward to seeing more build shots. In regards to the motor compartment...That is about as good as it gets! The different finishes and the way everything blends together - first rate!! Any info on the valvecovers??

Hi Alan,

Sorry I missed you at the show.

Have your wife send me the build pics and I'll put them up on garagescene.net. Should only take about an hour to load a 1,000pcs

DOOM 07-21-2009 09:46 AM

Alan do you have any pics of the gauges ? I love that the cluster is stock. I'm not a fan of the aftemarket clusters and this is the exact look I want. The car is perfection:hail:

Rybar 07-21-2009 10:39 AM

I love the whole car, very subtle but sick mods. Not overly done at all.

What are the wheel and tire specs, and what kind of wheels are those?

Vegas69 07-21-2009 11:03 AM

I really like the engine bay as well. Man that big block looks nice in there. :D Best use of a stock bezel that I've seen. Great job.... Looks like 20/19 to me.

HotRod68Camaro 07-21-2009 04:59 PM

Love the stance, what is the suspension setup? What size wheels and tires are you running?

customcam 07-21-2009 05:22 PM

Welcome Alan, good to see you here, thats a very classy Camaro youve built
and congratulations on this years honours!
Those pics are awsome Marty

BonzoHansen 07-21-2009 06:22 PM

I absolutely love the color scheme and underhood tones.

That car is kick ass:hail: Who did the interior? I like the use of the stock/modified gauge cluster and that engine bay is sick:thumbsup:

Bill Howell 07-21-2009 09:20 PM

Bob was driving so slow he did not even require a helmet! Of course, they did not have one big enough anyway.....

I know your back was in bad shape Alan, but damn, you could have called me......lol

The color seems somewhat familiar...

Killer car.. it will be an honor for us to feature it in our magazine.

srh3trinity 07-21-2009 09:48 PM

Every time I see another creation from their shop it blows me away. I live less than an hour from the shop and I plan on making a treck out there one day. Great looking ride.

alanjohnson 07-21-2009 11:10 PM

Thanks for the welcome, I have been lurking around on this site for some time, I just have never done a lot of posting on any site. The Camaro utilizes all of DSE's suspension components, the only changes to their parts is the upper coil over mounts are tied unto the full cage. We used a Fuel Safe cell that is an extra capacity cell for a Mustang. It worked out fine for the Camaro, getting it up higher so you can't see it from the rear and no extra charge for a custom tank. The wheels are Kinesis 19x9 and 20 x12. The engine made 720h.p. and is low compression so it will run on 87 octane. We are using a Walker copper and brass radiator, I have always had great cooling with their products on all of the big block street rods we have done. We added an oil and power steering cooler on either side of the radiator and made matching mounts for all that also match the valve covers and step plates. The rear bumper was lowered 3/4"to 1" completely reshaped and recessed into the rear body. The front bumper was lowered a 1/2" or so and we just fabbed a complete new bumper to achieve the look of a chrome enduro bumper. Many of these parts including all of the interior components are items that will be available for sale soon, we just have some finalizing to do to make sure the fit is consistent from car to car for all of the parts. Paul Atkins handled covering the interior. I will work on the photos but it will take a few days. We are running wide open right now trying to get several things ready for the Street Rod Nats in Louisville and getting Bob and the Caddy ready for Bonneville.
Thanks again

Not bad from a good old redneck out of Gadsden Alabama. You guys have had a heck of a good year and really put out some Bad rides. Congrats on the top 5 and most of all the RIDLER !!!!!!.

tones2SS 07-22-2009 12:07 PM

Thanks for the info Alan!!
That is a KILLER car for sure. I LOVE the fact that it's got a big block as well.
I have a question about the big block? Who makes it? And are you running a methanol system? You said that the compression is low, it runs on pump gas (87) and makes that many horses??
VERY NICE!!

dodge 07-22-2009 03:17 PM

Awesome looking car..Amazing work :D
