Rushforths on a GTO

Here's a killer GTO built by some good friends and wrapping it up just in time for the Good Guys Puyallup show here in Western, WA

It's awesome to have my wheels on my friend's cars and even more so when they look like this!

19x8 and 20x10 Whiplashes with Smoked Titanium on the entire wheel fill up the wheelwells nicely and set off the charcoal and white perfect!

Looks killer! Very unique, the wheels truly set it off. I'm diggin' the whiplashes.

Wow Jason, those wheels look killer on that car. The entire wheel in the smoked titanium is great! Of course the car is pretty damn nice too.:D

That's a stock width rearend so it's only about a 4-4.5" lip, Ned. If you're going with 12s and haven't narrowed the rearend yet, just center the wheel and it will look killer. Not pro street deep but a nice wide lip that will look aggressive.

Trust me! I'm a designer and a wheel man!

DRJDVM's '69 07-21-2009 10:21 PM

I was planing to get the rims and then measure for a rearend.... I have a mock up 8 3/4 stock in there now.... I was leaning towards a 4-4.5 inch lip.....5 is looking alittle too Pro-street to me....

I dont want the dish to the rear looking too out of place compared to the front. I like a deep dish but not too big.....

Looks awesome........... hopefully in the next 2-3 weeks it will be time to pull the trigger on the rims...

buickfunnycar.com 07-22-2009 08:47 AM

The dish on mine I believe is 4.5" and I have a stock 12-bolt...they appear to be about the same as that Goat.

DRJDVM's '69 07-22-2009 09:27 AM

We're getting alittle off subject but....how did you get that big of a dish with a stock rearend in a 1st gen?

On mine its a 9 inch rim 275 tire 5.5 BS and the dish is 2.75.....

Anyway....looks great.....

You just have to order the "right wheels" Ned!

Jason --

I have a sick sense of humor.

I love your wheels on this GTO...

Wheels look good! Just the right color for that car, and the right size.

The best way to do it, coming from a guy who's been in the wheel business for a LONG time, build the wheels the way you want them too look, and then narrow your rear end to fit. It's the BEST way to fit them, and to get the look you want.

Probably due to pad thickness. I believe some wheel makers just use a thick pad to make sure the wheel will clear any type of brake package, where others get that brake information and make the pad more narrow to create that larger lip.

As a post script to this thread, Wade who owns this beauty was awarded a Builder's Choice award by Art Morrison at the Good Guys' Puyallup show last weekend. Way to go, Wade!

Thanks Jason. I'm glad it turned out so well. I have to say it could not have been done without all of the help and hard work from Chris Morrison "BRIGZEE "doing the bodywork, paint and everything else I needed help with..

GregWeld 07-28-2009 05:08 PM

Way to go!!

Congrats Wade! I saw it at the show and these pictures just don't do the car justice. It is a really clean and well put together car. Nice job!

255/35/19s in front and 295/35/20s in back.

Wade just pulled down another GoodGuys pick in Spokane yesterday! No surprise because this car defines curb appeal!

PASD U 08-17-2009 10:49 PM

Nice. Do they make Redlines that big? Was just thinking how good that would look against the accent stripe in the paint. (I'm always creating, lol)

its hard to catch in the pics but the wheels(rims) already have a red pinstripe on them.
