68 camaro new hood pics
Thought i show some new pics of my car. I recently changed out hoods from a 4" fiberglass cowl hood to the stock cowl you see in the pics below. I was also very pleased with DSE's hood hinges.** The bummer of it all was by going with a smaller carb and intake we lost some power but much more driver friendly around the cones.*

Ditching a 4" cowl hood is always a good decision.
Good looking car. |
what suspention are you running on that bad boy?

When i had the 540 built i wanted to make sure i kept every possible horse, 760 hp and 755 tq with the old application was fun. Dropping down to a 1000 cfm Holley and smaller intake has dropped my Horse power but still seems to have stump pulling tq and now i can see the cones:lol: Thanks for the compliment--i love the Penny |
Wheel and Engine combo

wheel combo--We went with Budnik Tiller 5 wheel (17x11 on the rear and 17 x 8 up front)on all 4 corners, run the BF Goodwrench KD' (315's in the rear) and (245's up front) engine combo--running with a Merlin 3 BB--540ci with BB2 Brodix heads and dual plane intake with becool radiator and fans and the vintage air front runner system. before the change to the new dual plane and 100o cfm carb, off the flywheel dynoed 760 hp and 744 tq with a 10 1/4 compression--and not real wild cam--allowing us to idle around 700 rpm with the ac on. today more like 700 hp i am hopefull the torque will not be affected as much. gb |

Beautiful car!
I'm building a very similar 67 with a 489...what headers are you running? And do you have power steering? How's their fitment and ground clearance? Thanks, Jason |

Very nice set up. Any videos of her at start up or idling? THANKS!:lateral:  |
I have always liked this car and the new hood makes it look even better!! Are you going to paint it this season or will that be a winter project?

I took some BB super comp hooker headers for a 68 camaro and had them modified a little due to the raised ports Brodix has, depending on your heads, you may not have to do any modifications. i do have Power Steering-i am running with DSE's ceramic coated unit--amazing the responsiveness, it is still a tight fit, will try to send some pics later. gb |

Anthony, I am saving some pennies as we speak to paint the hood, with this economy everyhting is much slower for me when spending on this car. thank man. Greg |

I'm running Brodix Race Rites, which are stock ports. I bought a set of Patriot clipster headers (shorty) for the ground clearance, but despite what their catalog claims, they still hit the power steering box. And I've got the correct stands and motor mounts too. I'm might give the Sanderson BB2's a try. Anyway, sorry about the diversion...awesome car. 67 big blocks rule! Jason |
By far, my favorite Camaro and the inspiration that started my build! The hood looks great, Greg.
Still waiting on that 1/4 mile run video, though! Why don't you drive it down to Baton Rouge and I'll run it for you. Chris |
She's hot man...that 540 has to rip!
