UPS man brought me some Dougs Headers

These will be replacing my Hooker Super comps that hang too low and don't fit with my new Lee Manufacturing quick ratio power steering. I'll report back on fitment. According to Doug's Sales group this is the header for a BBC first gen Camaro with quick ratio power steering and a manual trans. I'll believe it when I get them in there.

Lemon's Headers had a 3 week build time and were almost double the cost, I figure its worth a shot.

Model# D320, Metallic Ceramic Coated.

As you can see, ground clearance with the supercomps was horrible:

Nice headers!

I'll being waiting for your review as I might be buying a new set myself. I purchased a set of Patriot shorties for my 67 that were supposed to fit power steering, but the #7 tube still hit the box. I have the correct BB motor mounts and stands too.

These Dougs headers or the Sanderson BB2's were next on my list.

Here's the Patriots. They tuck in nice, but you can see where they hit on the last tube. Maybe my "new" mounts aren't right?

Take care,
Jason

I called every company out there except Hooker. I think hooker has been bought and reformed so many times its hard to get someone on the phone that actually knows what they're talking about.

Dan Lemon's is super friendly and knows his product and the cars incredibly well. If these headers give me more than the slightest trouble I'll be returning them and parking the car for a while while a set of Lemon's are made for me. Only problem with that was, I would have to swap out my booster as well... :(

I'm running the BBC frame stands and moroso solid BBC mounts so we shall see.

Headers are SUCH a pain in the ass. I hope these fit well.

The Lemons look like works of art, but I'm still in the build stage so they're a little too pricey when trying to keep everything within budget.

(did I just say budget? HA!)

I may just "massage" these to fit since I have them and move up to a better set later on...

What about the stainless works? Any info on them? Do you have a link?

As I suspected. Still horrible fitment....

No better than the Hooker Supercomps. Going to return them and have my supercomps reworked I guess by a local exhaust shop. :(

I can't find a good pic, but the Killer 69 from Speed Tech has Stainless Works and a BBC in it. Give Blake a shout and see if he can get you a pic or better info.

I've 'reworked' headers before to get them closer to the body. I think starting with a completed header is a fine idea. If you've got a mig, you could attempt it yourself.

Damn good headers, all the vintage Trans-Am guys run them and my buddy has them on his Penske tribute '69Z,they tuck up nicely, well worth the extra $$$.
Lemon's headers are top notch as well.

Which Stahl headers did your buddy use on the Z? I bought a set a few years ago and Jere said he hadnt sold a set in like 20 years and the set I bought were on the shelf for almost that long. They did not fit a stock chassis car and hit the frame and the bellhousing bad. Jere refused to have anything to do with it and was nice enough to charge me a nice $100 return fee for his headers not fitting. Nice guy to do business with.....depending on the day and mood he is in.

I was less than impressed with them when I called as well. Dan Lemons is a good guy. That was ultimately what made up my mind.

He bought his about 3-4 years agon at least,trial-fit them first then had them powdercoated,I believe they were like $800-$1,000.
