$400,000 bid on 69 Camaro??

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevr...=p4506.c0.m245

I think I saw this car at SEMA last year, nice guys

camaro2nv 09-14-2009 03:54 PM

I must be missing something.

Vegas69 09-14-2009 03:56 PM

I emailed the guy and let him know his phony bid made his company look fraudulent yesterday.:D

BBC71Nova 09-14-2009 04:01 PM

Yeah, good luck with that one. There are ALOT of nicer ones out there that I gotta think can be had for much less. But I guess if you just gotta have a 706ci then...

It looks like it would handle like a tank though with all that weight?

John

Fluid Power 09-14-2009 04:04 PM

Lame

GregWeld 09-14-2009 04:12 PM

I'd prefer 4 Camaro X's... or maybe 2 Jackasses

Or maybe a much larger Renegade hauler and 48' stacker trailer for my stuff...

Or... Well.... come to think about it - almost anything over this particular Camaro.

Todd, you really need to let your emotions show more. lol:rofl:
Just kidding bud. (I'm glad you did what you did.)

ironworks 09-14-2009 04:22 PM

I'm not sure what is funnier? The 400,000 dollar bid or the fact it has not met the reserve?

That is alot torque for a convertible and that big rollcage.

James OLC 09-14-2009 04:27 PM

It worked for them... you and 10 thousand other people now know the name of their shop, location, contact information and that they have a (relatively) inexpensive shop rate. You looked at their work and read their add. Not horrible exposure for $45 bucks and it sets them up (maybe) for BJ in 'Vegas. That being said I don't know if they will actually do them any good but maybe it gets them a job or two over the winter. I doubt it sells that car but who's to say? (ok - I'll say it - it won't help sell that car at that price.)

MarkM66 09-14-2009 04:44 PM

Third time it's been listed. He should do a BIN for a longer listing.

MWCC 09-14-2009 05:22 PM

This Camaro has been listed.......I lost count. I think this is the 5th or 6th time. I enjoy a good laugh.

BonzoHansen 09-14-2009 07:43 PM

I saw that car at Carlisle over the summer. Huh. Interesting car.

I was just reminded of the back and forth motion my head made when I saw this car at SEMA last year. This is why you hire a designer who is willing to tell you NO.

Somebody should ship them a banner to hang in the shop that reads "Less is More"

ohcbird 09-14-2009 09:36 PM

Zeus?

I wonder if they'll throw in the 5'4" Zeus mannequin??? Nothing says kick-ass like a white-haired, undersized, fashion model-esq Zeus in your garage.

awr68 09-14-2009 10:46 PM

I remember that car from SEMA....didn't it have some weird suspension? Auto adjust widget or something? I remember the guy (builder I guess) wasn't too friendly.

Flash68 09-14-2009 11:11 PM

Lame.

I don't necessarily agree that any and all publicity is good publicity...

70rs 09-14-2009 11:17 PM

I think it's a typo. One too many zeros behind that "4". Nice looking car, but not 400k nice in my op.

I think they are equally funny...

Imagine how much it would have been worth if it won street machine of the year.. or even got into the top 5.. ;)

LOL....I said the EXACT same thing when I looked it over last year. The builder talked to me for quite a while about it, nice guy. It had a couple really nice and subtle mods but they were completely overshadowed by all the more extravagant stuff.

This is where money is well spent on someone who's job it is to be aware of trends, innovate and come up with a design solution that makes sense. This is a case of throwing a bunch of ideas at a car without looking at the big picture. It's like 10 lbs of crap in a 5 lb bag.

Saw this on youtube, video of the 400k 1300hp 707ci camaro.. :unibrow: :D

As if!

GregWeld 09-15-2009 09:01 AM

EBAY will not let you "advertise" a business -- so this is the guys way of insuring he's listed at the top of the 69 Camaro page -- and insuring that you read the description (where his 'hidden' advertisement is) -- because when you see that price - you're sure to read the description to see what you'd be getting...

On one hand it gets your attention - on the other hand - it makes me think the builder is an idiot. That last thought is what would KEEP ME AWAY from a shop like that.

Gotta agree with you there James...it's been done before.

I like the aluminum p/c on the bumpers...

70rs 09-15-2009 12:28 PM

And the video does nothing to make me want the car any more. Total turn off. Howd you like to deal with shifting that in traffic. Not much of a driver huh?

Agreed. It's fairly obvious where the bid came from and what this guy is trying to do. It's a poor decision by the builder. E-Scam-bay already has enough sellers using their buddies to make false bids and jack prices up on cars that usually aren't as described, we certainly don't need more of it.

On a side note, it's interesting to see this other '69 for sale. I had that Super Chevy magazine sitting on my coffee table for quite a while and this particular car was a big source of inspiration for my own build:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/69-CA...=p4506.c0.m245

It's a nice car and I hope he fetches a decent offer.

chr2002ca 09-15-2009 03:10 PM

Looks like the 400K auction has been removed. Hmmmm....I wonder why.

'cuz by ending the auction early there is no electronic 'paper trail' when they decide to relist it... item was removed, no record of previous autions when someone searches the car or the lister. Obviously not his first goat rodeo...

Novelli 09-15-2009 04:41 PM

Hey...... Got a 67 chevelle we will sell ya for $400K. Its even the lateral-g feature car for this month, so that makes it worth atleast $600K. LOL On the flip side Im sure the owner has alot of money tied up in it. The build prices on some of these cars adds up quick, $75-$95 an hour can add up really quick, especially when you are doing alot of " one off " stuff!

All I know is those burnouts on Youtube were insane. Yeah, the car may be suspect and not anywhere near $400k, but that engine sounds wicked on the video.

You'd get the same burnouts with a 572/620 hp factory crate motor...

I used to do them like that with my TigerPaw Wide Ovals on my 56 Ford picks 'em up truck....

EEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAA

Those tires were made to smoke! Sold more tires as they were so impressive.

LowchevyII 09-16-2009 11:40 PM

car does sound good. i wonder if he can show me how to put a lenco in my nova...

notorious1970 09-18-2009 06:44 PM

the nova would take that thing :unibrow:

You would think for that kind of loot he would at least proof read the sales ad. I think I finally found someone who's sentence structure is worse then mine. Geez, can I get some commas or capitals letters maybe?

:D :D :D

LOL!!!
Maybe that's why the car is priced so high? So he can can afford to go to college?? lol:rofl:

R67Chevelle 09-24-2009 06:50 PM

I like the engine from the standpoint of being different, But the rest of the car is kind of creepy as SHAGGY WOULD SAY.....

I have seen much nicer Camaro's that are converts with more detail where it counts. I think this guy thinks the car is a GOD of some sort....

Thats my 2 pennies, but something about this car and probably the owner just seems strange for some reason.... Well maybe its just me.... I just turned 40.....:wow:

Blessings,
AMS
