New Guy From Australia

G'day to all,
My name is Paul and i live in Perth,Western Australia.
My girlfreind and i purchased a 67 camaro in feb of this year here in OZ.
Black on black SS clone with stock 350 turbo 350 and 10 bolt.
We've got a stack of 1st gen camaro's here in Perth in the build process or finished. So i've got a few people to help me along the way that are local.
So far since we've had the car we've done a few bits n pieces but nothin major.
Just paid for a new mildly worked 350,dart heads, msd ignition.
And got my 1st package of interior stuff today from matts classic bowties.
We're coming to the U.S next month for a bit of a road trip around california and then out to vegas.
Hopefully my new rims from jon @driverzinc will be ready for pick up when we're in the U.S.
Thanks for a great site and look forward to reading alot more of your posts and coments over time.

Paul

Paul - Welcome!!

Don't let my wife know there's people from Australia on here!! She'll be bugging me to move there again!

A few years ago - when the kids were 'kiddies' - she was on a biz trip there (she was the head of world wide HR for Microsoft) she calls me and says - "Would you move here?... I love it here! The people are fantastic!"

Thanks so far guys for the "welcome".
Under 3 weeks to go before we jump on the plane and head to the u.s.a. we cant wait,if we do half the stuff we've planned its goin to be one hell of a trip!!
Oh and greg(weld) it sounds like you've go a great lady with great taste.
Without giving you the big tourist b/s about our state(w.a.) we're pretty lucky to have such a great climate(no snow unfortunately),beaches, tourist attractions and without all the over developement. Its still pretty raw over here in the west in comparison to the east coast.
Anyway thanks all for the welcome and

Paul

We got our SEMA passes yesterday!!!
All we have to do now is jump on the plane and get into it!!
Thursday next week we leave for the big U.S.A we cant wait.

Paul,

Bring a couple pair of your favorite walking shoes! You have no idea (unless you've been there before) how much space a million square feet is... and I think just getting from the sidewalk into a hotel on 'the strip' is about another 10,000 feet. Especially at the end of the day... then the hotel seems like a mirage - you can see it, but you just can't quite get there!

LOL

We got into L.A. on thursday and drove down to San Diego that evening.
Drove up the coast today to anaheim and was fortunate enough to see my 1st 2010 camaro at a dealership in Carlsbad it was only a six but still very happy.

ONLY A SIX??!! That '6' is 300 HP!! And that is a kick ass 6!

Well --- okay --- it's not 426 but still not bad for a grocery getter!

Welcome to America by the way! Pomona Swap Meet is a hoot! Remember -- as a buyer -- those parts are RUSTY.... The sellers -- they think that's BROWN GOLD....

  :woot:

We went to the drags on saturday and met some more aussies in the stands along side us(theres lots of us over here at the moment) and some other real nice people and couldnt get over the set up at the track and pit area.
And now we're waiting for SEMA to start on tuesday!!!

Well we're back home in oz now after an amazing trip to california, nevada and arizona. We met loads of great people from all over the place and we're already planning next years trip.
Fly into New York and drive acrross for SEMA and finish off in Huntington Beach Cal.......maybe!!!
All my parts have been arriving by post and we brought back my new rims from Jon@Driverzinc without a problem and 3 suitcases of parts and loads of other stuff.
Now the fun part, work out a plan for fitting all these new goodies over the next few months.
