Popular Hot Rodding's new Project car...

I am pleased to announce Popular Hot Rodding's new project car...

"Project Olds"

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2643/...d7d46d593b.jpg

We have already started with some upgrades and the car debuted at the Good Guys show in Joliet last weekend. Please check out the blog....

http://blogs.popularhotrodding.com/6...ass/index.html

The car was well received and did really well on the Autocross despite the lack of power.

Here it is currently...

Watch for the build up to start in PHR early 2010. Let us know what you think and stayed tuned as we continue the progress. I want to thank all my friends who have been so supportive. I also wanted to thank Detroit Speed, Baer Brakes, Rocket Racing wheels, and Nitto tires for their interest in our project. Also a big thanks to Performance Restorations in Mundelein, IL for helping us with the installs. I hope you all like the project.

I'm very opinionated on this one. I'm happy that someone out there is thinking Olds. But I've always been happy that they haven't been on the market, it's cool to have something no one else has.

I hope PHR keeps the heart, and not put a chevy in it. (No offense) lol

Cool to see something different. That thing looks good as it is right now, look forward to see the changes.

Congrats Robert!
At least PHR got this pick right. I see most of the installs are being done somewhat local to our state. Its nice to get in the car and take a morning criuse to check progress. Dont change the two tone "mock" hardtop look, it makes the car IMO, which you propably agree with anyway.

Funny, I had actually thought about painting the top to match the red, totally changed my mind. Where are you located?

nvr2fst 10-18-2009 08:18 AM

^ In Delafield. We talked briefly at Joliet.

Looks like awesome progress Robert... one of the few magazine builds that I actually care to follow these days...

(CP projects aside)

cmraman 12-15-2009 01:19 PM

Wow guys, thanks for all your support. I'm really happy with what we have done. I hope that this will show people that there are alternatives that are just as cool.

Robert

 ON THE CUTLASS BUILD IN PHR...

Young Gun 12-15-2009 04:12 PM

gotta be one of my favorite builds, I am a fan of builds that are off the beaten path. I have been meaning to re subscribe and this is definitely a good enough reason!

DFRESH 12-15-2009 05:49 PM

Robert, my older brother had the same year/model--was his first car in high school. His was all white----I like the two tone look of yours. My bro sold his about 4 years ago--he held onto it for quite a long time. I was sorry to see it go, but didn't have space for it in my own garage. It 's very exciting to see this one, and the fact that it will be done right. I will imagine what could have been for my brothers. I will be following this one closely---really stoked to see you get this car and build it as you go along. Seems like a realistic build that will have my attention all the way through.

Doug

Like previously said Robert, car looks awesome! Cool to see something different.

protour73 12-19-2009 04:49 AM

Robert, I freaking love this car......these Olds are a sadly overlooked car, finally getting some real love!!! This will be a great project to watch.

T Bell 12-19-2009 06:11 PM

I'm so glad it's an Olds. I share the same thoughts as you on having a car that everyone has. Let's just say Chevellabration did me in. Can't wait for this months edition to get here. (And I promise, I'll look at the other articles too, afterwards)

Thanks for the feedback. I'm really happy with all the upgrades thus far. Everything is working well and the car is fun to drive. It just sucks I can't drive it now. Damn snow.
