1 Attachment(s)
Well it been a great year for us here at RPM at the Goodguys shows. With a lot of hard work back here at the shop we have won Hot Rod of the year at Indy, Street Machine of the year top 5 pick at Columbus and a Mighty Muscle pick at Pocono with the 69 Trans Am and many other great awards. It came to us as a great surprise when we were asked to build the 2010 Goodguys give away car the "Boss Snake" 1970 mustang. Its going to be an exciting build and we will be sure to post pictures and information as we go..

Sorry that its been a while since we updated this thread!! Parts are rolling in and the car is starting to come together.. As you can see in the pics there was a lot of work needed to fit such a big engine is such a small hole.. Once it was in place we designed engine mounts that would allow room for headers. The engine mounts in the pics will be remade out of aluminum.. In the rear we had to massage and widen the rear quarter panels/wheel openings .75 to allow room for the tires. You can see in the pics where we split the outer rear wheel house to allow room for the quarter to move. Stay posted for more updates!! March is right around the corner.

Looking good! Thanks for showing updated photos..... but now we are hungry for more..... Just don't stop working on that 62 Nova though.

Don't worry the Mustang is slated to be done in March(as long as we get the needed parts). The Nova we are pushing on hard and I hope we are Ready for the Faceoff in April!!!

Updates!!! WIth the deadline quickly approaching we finally received another shipment of parts... The front end is completely fiberglass and needed a lot of love to make it all fit.. We put our crew on the car hard Friday and Saturday to try and get some major work accomplished... Here are some fresh pics... Stay tuned for more !!! First pic you can see how much extra room there is in the engine compartment!! Third pic is the Ring Brothers export brace kit. Since we built the shock towers and raised them from the factory position we have to machine the pieces down that mount to them so they clear the hood. Fourth pic is the Vintage Air assy mounted so we can begin to fab the dash. Pics five and six are inside the truck.. On the right is the battery tray we fabbed that will hold two Optima yellow tops and on the left is the air compressors, valves and fuse panel/wiring harness. Pic seven is the power steering res mounted to the inner fender. Pic eight, fitting the front fenders. Pic nine, preping the firewall for pedal assy. pic ten is a panel we fabbed the mounts in the front of the rear quarter panel and will house the Kicker component speakers.

first pic you can see the panel for the speakers in place.. Second Pic we had to cut the taillight panel out of the body to fit the new Shelby panel in from Tony Branda Mustangs. Pics three and four are the body side vents that we had to cut in to the shell. This body was a 69 and the Boss Snake is modeled after a 70 so we filled the upper vents and made the lowers.

Looking good. When is your deadline?

The car is looking good. You have 42 days before you need to leave for Scottsdale. If you work 24 hours a day that gives you 1,008 hours. Should be just enough time to get the car completed in! Have fun. |
