We are currently working on a 70 Formula, 71 Formula, and have a 70 T/A in line, and we are looking to buy a project as well. The 70 Formula we have been working on the past few weeksis number 1 in line. Paint is nearly complete, color is GM Imperial Blue and looks sick on this bird. Pics are as shot, not buffed yet. Suspension is not over the top, drop front springs, DSE drop leafs out back, DSE subframe connectors, Baer 6 piston brakes, and Rushforth wheels will round out the car. I will update as new parts arrive.

Can I guess the color? Its my favorite...Indigo Blue Metallic? I have always loved that body style ever since I saw Corvette Summer...its the bad guys car :).

awr68 10-04-2009 09:16 PM

If that is GM Indigo Blue...that was my very first color choice, 8 yrs ago!! Wow, I sure have changed my mind color wise over the years!! :willy:

Color is posted in the orginal post. It is 07-10 GM Imperial Blue Effect. Darker than Indigo with metallic and pearl in it. Looks almost black until the sun hits it. Final cut and polish starts tommorrow and the pearls already look like they are jumping off the car. It was a perfect color choice.

Small update. Subframe is in and suspension is layed out and ready to install. Nothing wild for this car, Hotckis drop springs up front, DSE drop leafs out back, DSE subframe connectors, solid subframe bushings, Moog rebuild kit, and Koni shocks. Dynamat install is started and stuffing in every nook and cranny we can find. As far as the 455, this is what happens when I fix an oil pan leak. "While we are here......."

awr68 10-25-2009 10:10 PM

Mike, that should make for a great driving street car! They don't all have to be 'over the top' builds!! Actually with a second gen, is this pretty much all that's needed suspension wise? I know they are much improved over the first gens to start with!

EXACTLY what this car is being built to do. I am really enjoying the direction this build is going and will be showing it some during the 2010 season.

Very nice Mike.
Keep up the good work.

I really like the Imperial blue. Can you post some outside shots when you have a chance? I'd like to see how it looks in the sun. The local Chevy dealer has a few cars in this color but it's always raining here and your paint job is better than any of theirs. How many coats of clear are on that?

NOT A TA 10-31-2009 02:56 PM

Looks good Mike! Welcome to the club!!! LOL

tony byram 10-31-2009 04:40 PM

WOW Mike! that Imperial blue is beautiful! Wish I had known about you guys when I lived in Tulsa! See Ive got this darned oil leak in my big-block 72 Z28 that Ive been trying to get rid of.............. Looks great, keep us posted.

70rs 10-31-2009 04:58 PM

I understand how those little things go. I was doing a tune up years ago on my old 68rs and a spark plug swap turned into a whole new top end, cam swap, headers and for some reason the TH350 turned into an M21.

Cap, rotor and plugs....

bigtyme1 10-31-2009 08:22 PM

Lets see some updates Mike.Looking good so far, I can't wate to see the 70

I will post a good one when I get back from SEMA. Only thing noticeable right now is Dynamat is done and ready to start wiring. 455 is being reassembled, should have it finished tommorrow and painted before I leave

Just checking in to see how the 70 is coming along. I'd love to see some more pics of it in the sun.

455 is close to being assembled and ready for paint. Won't be on the ground until the Baer brakes and Rushforth wheels show up. I will have a good update I hope later this week

Thanks! Which set of Rushforths are you using on it and will you be adding a color to the centers? I am getting a lot of good ideas for my own second gen. Thanks again for any info.
