Project: Kama Kaase
Here's the shell we'll be using for our 69 pro street/pro touring Mustang. All in all the shell is in pretty good condition.Very minimal rust to the structure of the car although the 1/4's are in the process of being replaced. We will put on new fenders, doors, hood and trunk too.We will also be replacing the entire floor pans.
Notice the engine compartment...pretty much rust free even though they will be cut out and a Rod & Custom suspension going in. The work on the car is pretty much at a snails pace at the moment because the builder is scrambling around trying to get their cars ready for the car show at the Playboy mansion this saturday and then SEMA the following week. Once all the dust settles by mid Novermber they will start focusing on my car. They say all the metal work/fabrication will take 3 to 4 weeks then off to the body shop. For those of you who aren't familar with the car we will be building a 1969 Mach 1 pro street/pro touring combination. The car will have a Jon Kaase built Boss 598ci Ford hemi sporting 1000hp and an additional 250 shot of nitrous,Viper Spec T56,Rod and Custom front susp with rack and pinion,Art Morrison narrowed rear, tubbed to fit huge 33x21.50 tires,Mike Curtis custom wheels, custom interior,Shockwave air ride susp,HOK red with gloss black hood with hockey stripes going down into the fender with air brushed,Boss 598",front and rear spoliers, louvered rear windows, shaker hood scoop,10pt cage, etc, etc. IMG]http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd25/427gt500e/PA090102.jpg[/IMG] http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d...e/PA090090.jpg http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d...e/PA090091.jpg http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d...e/PA090095.jpg |

Time for an update.I'll start off by saying that I'm less than pleased with the amount of work that has been completed since the day I signed the contract but noticable progress has been made. The metal guy has a deadline to have the car downstairs to the body shop by the end of the month. He says this can and will be done.He still has the rear body panel, rear floor, quarters, cage and needs to modify the firewall for the trans tunnel left to do.The entire front end is finished and sitting on the jig waiting to be installed to the body.
As you can see or visualize, the entire engine bay will be smoothed walled which will really inhance that Kaase engine and show it off even better. On the fire wall they will lazer cut in Japaneese font,"Kama Kaase" The shop believes the car will be on the rotisseri next month and they will put all their body guys on it to have it ready for paint in March.I'm not putting too much stock in their timeline but it helps me mentally think it could happen They still feel even though we got off on a delayed start the car will still be delivered on time. The contract says there will be a 100.00 a day penalty for each day the car is late. http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d...Mustang015.jpg http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d...Mustang019.jpghttp://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d...Mustang008.jpg |

This is a rendering of the car we're building.Only difference is the build car will have a full tub vs. mini tub.

I love 69-70 Fastbacks looking forward to see more of this project.

Well, I think I'm going to have to add a 69-70 fastback to my list of cars to own/build. I'll just have to put an LSx into it :)
Seriously, the rendering looks fantastic. Who did that one for you? Good luck making it happen. Post pictures as you go. This will be one to watch for sure. |
The rendering was done by Kris Horton. The car being built will be like no other 69/70 Mach 1 considering the engine will produce 1000 naturally aspirated hp,200 shot of nitrous and 900 foot pounds of torque. This car will be the optimum hot rod as I can take the car on the power tour or lay down a 9 second quarter mile pass.
The car will be at SEMA this year. |
These are the rear tires that will be on the car.We will also incorporate alot of Ring Bros and Fesler items into this car.

That rendering is SWEET! Can't wait to see some progress on this one.
|
Uh oh!! There goes those names again....Fesler and Ring Brothers. With those parts incorporated, this build is gonna be sick. I can already smell what you guys are cooking. Keep the pics coming.
|
Nice project.
|
I usually dont like those cars, but that is a killer rendering, and makes me think different now:thumbsup: I'm just wondering how much the overall look will change with that type/size of rear tire
did they do another rendering with different sized rim and sidewall heights? |
Just back from Minnesota to check on the build.Although I am pleased the car is coming along and the quality of work that has been done is fantastic,I'm not too happy with the slow progress. All the sheetmetal is in and in process of being installed except the roof skin. From what the shop says it's on back order.
The front and rear frame rail have been cut on their Torchmate machine so all we need to do is install the front/rear frame rails, rear floor pan,rad supp, inner fernder wells, then the car goes off to the body shop. They feel the roof skin should be in next week. If all goes well and as planned, the car will be painted at the end of April and I'll go back out there for that. http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d...e/IMG_2257.jpg http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d...e/IMG_2256.jpg http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d...e/IMG_2255.jpg |
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d...e/IMG_2252.jpg
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d...e/IMG_2201.jpg http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d...e/IMG_2200.jpg This is how we're going to run the exhaust. We are going a step further though as the headers will have an eclectric dump switch to exit out the side and then at the flip of a switch it will exit straight thru the headers when I want to set off car alarms or crack windows http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d...ior-zoom-9.jpg |
When I was at the shop we changed a few things. That always seems to happen during a build. For example, the brake master cyclinder will be under the dash and out of the engine compartment. The only thing in the engine compartment will be the coil and fuel regulator.Everything else will be hidden.
We decided to put on fiberglass front/rear bumpers cut and molded into the body for a more contour look. The side scoops will not have that horseshoe type insert and that will be molded in as well. The roof drip rail will be shaved too. The rear valance will not have backup lites and all that will be filled in with metal. The front/rear side marker lites will be filled in too. |
The builds lookin good!! These cars take time to do them right. It will all pay off in the end!! These guy's look like they know what there doing !! .Keep the pic's coming:cheers:
|
I am happy with the quality, fabrication and craftsmanship Doom but at the same time I'm disappointed with the slow progress but I suppose that's the price I have to pay for perfection.
I cannot give enough props to Clay, the metal fab guy with Memory lane classics. The guy is really talented:thumbsup: You know, their also very busy too. They have about 23 cars in line for a build. Two cars in particular that their working on will be Ridler cars. One is a 66 Charger with a BMW drivetrain and interior. The other is a 59 convertible Impala. |
Very cool steve! DON'T worry the car will be done for your SHOW!!! And yes we will try to do a 9sec. pass :unibrow: :unibrow:
|
Hows the progress going mate?Keen to see the Mustang with new glowing paint...should look killer!

This is the Jon Kaase built Boss 600ci going into the car.It will be dyno'd and shipped to the builder next week.Kaase believes it will dyno out at 1000 to 1100 N/A horsepower on pump gas.

That motor is sick! Cannot wait to see this one done. Remind me of the target date? I have done these thrashes, UGH! I feel for them.
|
Frank, the car is supposed to be finished and delivered to me in May.There's no way that will happen. Now they're hoping sometime in June.
Kaase really knows how to build reliable, high horsepower engines. The guy actually builds NHRA and IHRA for many race teams. We're still going to juice it with a 150 shot:wow: |
That is one heck of a motor! Kaase really knows his s---. This wiil be one nice ride when completed.
|
I have taken those $100 a day "deal with the devil for my sole" but I also always make it go the other way and add $100 a day for everyday I am early. Cost the last guy $1400 and he was never so happy! I was never late in one of those deals, there simply is not enough profit in this game to lose $100 a day.
It will be a delicate balancing act for them to not rush the project while free bleeding everyday. We are not going to be talking about a just few hundred bucks here. this could turn into real money fast. Understand that the first half of the build is much more predictable then the second half. Also understand that the last 10% is really 50% of the job. In the end everyone involved just wants a killer car. I do not envy either parties position. |
Sweet project man:thumbsup: Be patient, that $100 a day deal may be a bad idea. I see things being rushed if they are losing money.
|
Jon Kaase dyno'd my motor today.Very happy with the results.1007hp,no blower,no supercharger.Naturally aspirated on pump gas.

OK, that is just NASTY! Got my blood pumping

Yes this engine is a very cool:thumbsup:
I can't wait to start this one up at 5AM! The 100.00 Deal, Well it does suck! But if the client is happy, Then were happy! This is his 2nd car that were building now and i'm sure their will be a 3rd too. We do not rush any work it all HAS to be 110% |
love the Mustang and what a motor!
|
Thanks:thumbsup:
The goal is to have a very foreward looking, modern prostreet/touring Mustang like no other. It's a delicate balance mixing both but I really think we can pull it off. This car will be the best of both worlds.I can lay down a 9 second quater mile pass then get on the highway and run the power tour. |

NO,your not building me a 3rd car and you know that.More to come later. Tic toc,tic toc. |
