plates

Good luck trying to get them on the car. DMV is a pain in the A$$ unles you know someone. I see them at swap meets all the time. I think there is a swap meet coming up in Turlock, Ca. soon and the last Good Guys Pleasanton, Ca. in November.

No problem with DMV regarding the black plates. They have decided to let us reissue them. Just have to have the correct year sticker on the plate that is same year as the car they are going on.

Could get a personalized plate and paint it black and yellow.

Hey guys im interested in putting some blue/yellow plates on my chevelle.

how do you go about that and what possible problems could i run into here in california:question:

thanks:thumbsup:

Last I heard you could only reissue the California Black Plate to cars and trucks with the corresponding years. The California Blue Plates are only being reissued to trucks with the corresponding years.

go on the ca dmv website see what they have available in the custome letters/numbers you want, tell the dmv you want that and then order your custom place from that site and voila. clean easy and legal.

steve is that whats on penny? did you just put your reg. tags on that plate?
is there a way of a LEO would know that its not a real state issued plate to you even though you get it with the actual text of your real plate?

Not to hijack this thread but is having the correct year licesne plates just as big in other states as it is here in California? I've never heard anyone say they are looking for a Red & White 1966 Georgia plate for their Chevelle or a Baby Blue & White Nevada Plate for a 1959 Impala. Is this just a collector thing or is there some type of value added to the vehicle.

Yep.. that my real tag.. I just had those letters put on the black/yellow plate and then put my tags on that plate.

In other words if they run BD PENY it will come back legit. I suppose they could bug me that it's not a REAL black/yellow plate, but generally if you don't hassle them (ie, be a jerk) they won't bust you too bad on the trivial things.
