Flash68 10-19-2009 11:47 AM

what a joke...

Steve1968LS2 10-19-2009 11:58 AM

I know why they do it.. population density.. still, would it kill them to do it once every five years?

Hell, at least in the western half of the country? At least we don't have hail and torrential downpours..

GregWeld 10-19-2009 02:02 PM

I said the same thing -- then went on line and booked the registration etc...

What the heck -- it's about the whole event... the cars... the stops... the people... so I'm going to just close my eyes on my arrival to NEWTON IOWER...

LOL

nvr2fst 10-19-2009 03:20 PM

Exactly. Once in awhile isn't a lot to ask. It's not like they wouldn't have a nice turnout. And there is little to no chance of rain out here!

We'd have a great turnout -- and I already have a route planned!!!

We could start at Todds - go over to Steves - Up to Bakersfield to Rogers - Go up to your place - Continue on to Charley's - then on up to here - and then straight on up to Blakes!

How kool is that!??!

I like it Greg! We will just have to plan it for them and send them the itinerary!

Heck no! We're adding you as a "stop". So you'll be with us!! :hail:

It was way too far between Charley's and my place - so you're in the perfect spot there! How many people can you sleep?

There used to be a "plaque" you could buy for your boat... it read... This boat drinks 10... feeds 4... and sleeps 2. It always made me laugh.

Hey, if you don't mind sleeping under the stars....or in the garage I have plenty of room!! It's the least I can do for you guys!! :D

awr68 10-20-2009 10:35 PM

I agree! We need something like the Power Tour out here. Hell, I'd go in my truck if I had to just to be a part of it.

Northeast Rod Run 10-21-2009 05:34 PM

it's like Hot Rod Magazine got lost in the center of the country.

they came out to the east coast in 1999 and then didn't come back until 2006. I thought that was ok because in 2006 they ended in Jersey so based on their previous years (and now following years), they always started off where they ended the previous year. well guess what.................they took a break from doing that in 2007:censored:

I had to fix that in 2008 so I started my own yearly trip (3 days long) through the Northeast. the first year we had 14 cars. this year we had something like 27 or 28. I figure next year should come close to doubling again

much better secenery in the Northeast, than there is in the Midwest, and we do it in October with foliage season near peak (as it was with the original Power Tours) so there is no worry of sweating to death if a car doesn't have A/C, and no worrying about engine temps getting to hot either

I should start a thread of the trip I set-up to see if there is any interest for next year

z4me69 10-21-2009 05:37 PM

as far as the west coast goes why dont all you all get together and set somthing up. i bet if you did it would get popular quick i'm pretty shure there would be at least one mag covering it. hell some of us east coast guys have been wanting a reason to drive out to the west coast. ummmmm that is if i can ever get this dam car done lol

It's easy to say -- "someone should" -- but these things take massive amounts of work -- and the minute you start to "run it" - you have lability 'risk' if something happens to someone along the way... and on and on and on...

Even our little car club - Northwest Classic Chevy Club - keeps a D&O policy. We run a "tri five only" show (Just happens to be the largest one in the WORLD with 300 '55/ '56 / '57 CHEVYS only) ... and if someone gets hurt... we're going to be on the hook.

In order to make it 'worthwhile' to the vendors you'd want to stop to see - it needs the backing of a publication. They (the vendors) need the milage out of the advertising... So as much as I 'agree' with you. It's just too much to ask someone to do.

awr68 10-21-2009 07:55 PM

Yep! But that won't stop a bunch of us friends from cruzing together!! And if we do/schedule things right Nick and Steve will be there with us!!

I have always thought that the Nevada, Arizona and So Cal guys could meet up with us NW guys in Nor Cal. I'm sure the Pozzi's know of a GG's Show and auto-x we could all attend...and if we are real lucky Dave will even show us a road course!

just a thought........

OKAY -- IM IN! There's nothing better than a good old fashioned "ROAD TRIP" (my favorite saying around my house)... and I'm all good for that NOR CAL area. So -- here's the problem with that. Let's just use a PLEASANTON GG show for an example.... (and I'm really thinking that the NEW Scottsdale GG show in MARCH would be the venue for #1 annual??) The problem is "many" of us would have a drive to get to "wherever"... but what would the LOOP be ? Since we all have different starting points.

So I think we could all meet up at Charleys... (no cal) --- make a stop in So San Francisco and visit BRIZIOS and right next door is Sanderson headers... then head south on the 101 from there - first stop - (Pick - Santa Cruz or Carmel area) I'm thinking 17 mile drive etc... then head south from there the next day... VIA PASO ROBLES? To Bakersfield (Rogers Ironworks Shop and anything else on the way?? Down 99??) STAY OVER NIGHT HERE -- NEXT DAY -- Okay let the fun begin... A HOT LAP OVER TO LAKE HAVASU CITY... WIDE OPEN COUNTRY back road boogie!! For an overnight there. From there - we need a couple shops in Phoenix area -- so I'm thinking FESLERS (Chris?) and somewhere else - or maybe setting something up at Bondurants -- like 6 speed shifter carts for a few laps?? Then off to our hotels and get ready for the GG show...

SO you guys -- we need ideas for shops/auto parts mfgs/food stops of INTEREST/Sights... to wow!

What say you??

awr68 10-21-2009 09:57 PM

I say it sounds good and I need to ride shot gun in the Nomad!!

You bet -- but I'd try talking Charley into letting you babysit "the Mule" since he's moved on to his new favorite toy (JA)... or I'll let you take the "BadMad" and I'll take the 37 Ford!

EEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAA!!

awr68 10-21-2009 11:24 PM

It all sounds great to me!!

z4me69 10-21-2009 11:39 PM

greg what ever happened to a bunch of friends just getting together and just do a road trip with a few stops on the way. who needs the mags and the venders? you know power tour is fun but can be complicated.i would love to come out west just to ride my bike or the car down the pacific coast hwy even better with a few or a few dozen friends.

z4me69 10-21-2009 11:42 PM

greg now youre getting the idea lol

Now this is a splendid idea. :)

Come down to GG show in Pleasanton next month.

Seriously this would be a lot of fun if a bunch of us could get together somewhere on the Left Coast.

I stopped doing that Pleasanton show due to "cold and wet" weather... which is not exactly "inviting" to me from the Pacific NorthWET at this time of year.

GoodGuys does a planned cruise for their shows during the summer - and I've considered doing this - but it's so dang nice up here in the summer - I can't see cruising from the South up to the North (I actually don't do many shows during the summer for this very reason)... They leave Pleasanton show and drive north to come up here for Puyallup. If we could organize it with a few Lat G friends - I'd come down for that show and then do that drive - sorta like a test run... and to be able to plan something "mo bigga"....

:lateral: :woot:

Greg, I can't remember the last time it rained in November actually... 98% of our rain comes in Feb/March and a little bit of April around these parts....

I better knock on some wood now...

:D

Sorry -- that's a miscommunication on my part -- since WE only have one show per year... I forget about you spoiled brats in No Cal having multiple GG Shows... :hail: :hail: I meant that I stopped doing the March show... because I went a couple of times and it was just bordering on poopie or it was poopie... It's a long drive for me for poopie weather. Thus -- the SCOTTSDALE date (new show - 1st Spring Nats) 'cause it NEVER rains down there!! (but when it does -- bring boots!)

Well there ya go. You just sold yourself on coming down next month!

vicious69 10-31-2009 07:42 PM

Be nice to see the tour in MA and CT. They were once but that was probably 10-15 years ago.

ItDoRun 10-31-2009 10:46 PM

Maybe they'll swing through southeast Louisiana one year.

I may have to take the GMC over to Mobile next year and check some rides.

RECOVERY ROOM 11-01-2009 10:51 AM

I wonder how many people would start a tour in their area and try and find a place to meet up with other tours,Sort of like AMERICRUISE did for a while. There is enough people on here to do it.Have a LAT-G show.Hit up the venders for different levels of sponsorship to help with cost
