FRUSTRATED with Centerline Racing wheel!!

I was told 3 to 4 weeks when I ordered them direct. Called after 4 weeks and was told "2 more weeks" for the next FOUR months!!! I'm so beside myself I can hardly breath. They flat out lie to me about the wheels and "tooling up the factory" ect. ect.. Unfortunatly I really want this wheel in 18 and 20", they are the only ones I found that make em in plus sizes.
I need help, anybody else make these? They have had my money since the first day also.... :soapbox:

yeah, especially since it says American Racing on it........... :D I just wanted to change the title for him if it's wrong, don't want Centerline being blamed for AR's issues............... :wow:

Get a refund... why come on here and vent when you've posted 27 times in 2 years?

whats that got to do with it ???

Vegas69 10-29-2009 03:44 PM

I'll tell you exactly what it has to do with it. I see it on another site I frequent. People use the site to whine and bitch and that's the end of it.

Agreed get a refund not because you've waited so long but for the fact that it is a very unattractive wheel sorry just my opinion...

jcal87,

You may not like the look and I'm not sure how old you are but on the right vintage car, that actually is a good period-look.

I didnt think you needed a quota up before you could ask for help or advice with a problem..Im up to 70 posts now , is that enuf?

Vegas69 10-29-2009 11:02 PM

Naaaaahhh:rofl: I was helping, he should get his money back. There is no reasonable excuse for a cast wheel to take that long unless the workers are on strike in China.

70rs 10-29-2009 11:04 PM

Cancel, get a refund and move on. Very simple.

Good luck.

mxjunkie 10-29-2009 11:20 PM

First of all yes, the pic is of an American Racing wheel. I'm getting the "Centerline racing wheel". American racing only goes up to size 17" on
their salt flat wheel. That's why i went with Centerline, they go up to 22".
So please change the title back...

Second I really don't give a #$% if you like the wheel or not. I personally think it will look great on my 62 impala with air ride. 20 in back 18 in front.

Third of all who cars how many post I have? Do you have to have so many before asking for help on finding a wheel? D-BAG.

I just want to know if somebody might know of a wheel just like it that is available. So THANKS to all those with helpfull suggestions, all others can go about your business. Thanks

Could you please change the title back though?

camcojb 10-29-2009 11:26 PM

got it, but pretty easy to misunderstand. You say this but put a pic of an American Racing wheel.....

Didn't Edelbrock make a wheel like that? Or is it just a relabled AR?

Scratch that. I just looked and they don't list anything on their site. I thought I had seen them listed somewhere with the Edelbrock name on them. Sorry for the bad info.

I knew AR only made them up to 17's,did not know Centerline makes the same wheel up to 22's though...

Edelbrock did make a similar wheel but they don't offer it anymore.

You are not alone, I got the same 3 weeks quote and Im going on 2.5 months. I was told that there manufacturer of there rings went bankrupt and they were having to make there own. I would normally canceled my order, but im getting 2 more of what I already have and dont want to buy a complete new set. Im gambling because I see a strong possibilty of them going bankrupt if there doing this nonsense to everyone.

Exactly what i'm going through except it's been 4 months. They say my 18 should be in the box soon, but no ETA on the 20's still. I ask then all kinds of questions also. Like "you shut down production while tooling up your plant?"
"How could you tell me 3 to 4 weeks when you KNEW that wasn't even close to the truth" ect. ect. They just don't have anything to say. Just, "yes, we are sorry sir, it's a custom wheel and take awhile"... Custom wheel? bwhahah, they weld the centers to the rim, REAL custom! I'm just in the same boat as you, I want that style of wheel.... :willy:

Those aren't the same wheels you posted just very similar. I'm sure DSE can tell you who made them.

Yeah, that's all I want, don't care who makes them.. Just thought it was a link to a place that sells them. I'll email them, thanks.

Budnik Muroc 2

Those are our Muroc II wheels, shown with a bead blasted center.

JustinB 10-30-2009 11:53 AM

I can set you up with a set of Schott Velocity Wheels. Similar style wheel with a 4-6 week turn around.

Thank you Justin,I knew Schott made something similar although that is more of a gasser wheel then it is a salt lake-look wheel.
The quality on those Shott wheels are incredible...

GregWeld 10-30-2009 05:25 PM

Shhhhhhhhhhh ---

Don't tell Jason - but the Schott Velocity is what I want to do on the Minotti...

But my mind is still an open book...

Waiting to be slammed shut....

Blank pages. Nothin' happenin' up there at all.

70rs 10-30-2009 06:51 PM

That wheel from Schott (velocity) is just awesome looking!

mxjunkie 10-31-2009 11:38 AM

Thanks but I'm really looking for the smaller window holes and true "salt flat" look. I'll check out the websites. Thanks!

mxjunkie 10-31-2009 12:02 PM

The Budnik's would work for me. I'll just have the centers painted gray and roughed up some. Are they big $$$? Not that it matters at this point, i just wanted to get my car done!!

55Sedan 11-04-2009 05:38 PM

Budnik Muroc in 3 styles

Hey guys, newbie here. I was just starting to shop wheels a couple weeks ago when my tire shop guy told me of the NIGHTMARES with Centerline. I was looking at the Boulevard, too. You can get this style wheel in American Racing cast or polished, Wheel Vintiques, Cragar (I think a "391"?) and Budnik. I will go for the Budniks myself, just because it fits my style and price range (sort of!). A set of 17x7 and 17x11 polished Murocs is $1697 to my door in California from a vendor in Indiana. I do not know how many of these are available in 20 or 22, though.

Styles: Muroc - least expensive, all polished, standard "stepped" rim. Going to a "Fat Lip" adds $400 per wheel to the 11" width. Muroc II is VERY similar, but kidney openings appear to be a little bigger. Muroc III is quite different in that the spokes are thinner, and peaked, and the wheel insets are satin finish. III is my favorite, but about $1,000 more per set in same size.

Oh, and the tire shop guy also said all manufacturers seem to be having trouble getting "hoops" right now to make their wheels. Still does not excuse Centerline from LYING! Hope this helps!

Larry

mxjunkie 11-07-2009 12:07 PM

Thanks for more sugestions. I'll have to call one more time, and this time when they piss me off, and they will, I'll have to get my money back. That shouldn't be a problem correct? I mean they've been collecting interest on my money for 5 months now! Hope they don't make a big deal about giving my money back.

Kustom_dude 11-17-2009 02:50 PM

have you looked at the billet specialties Bonneville

What happened??

MXJunkie,

Is there an update? Inquiring minds want to know.

I can't tell you how great Budnik is! Jay has been putting up with me and my "wheeling and dealing" and has been SUCH an awesome supporter!

Drop Centerline and go with Budnik...

NewGen 500 is also an awesome looking wheel! Or, what about Bonspeed "Superstar"? A couple variations from Salt Flat.

Larry

mxjunkie 11-22-2009 03:48 PM

Funny you ask. The 2 front wheels showed up out of the blue on Friday. No call, no email like i asked so I could make sure to be home. But I just happen to be home. They are the look I wanted, quality is so so. Just happy to have 2 at this point. But then again, now I'm trapped and can't cancel my order, and they still won't give me an ETA on the rears still..
The guy at Budnik was very cool and prompt on mailing back and forth.
Lesson learned.
