Introducing: The 'Y-TRY' Twin Turbo Camaro

This long-term project is finally coming to fruition after 7 years of work and planning. Here's some specs:

Engine: MoTown block 406
Crank: Scat 4340 Ultralight Stroker (2.45" mians, 3.75" stroke)
Rods: Eagle 4340 H-Beam, 6"
Pistons: JE Inverted Dome (8.1:1)
Cam: Custom Ground Solid Roller
Heads: (Well) Ported AFR 220's
Intake: GM Bowtie
Induction: Twin PT-52 turbos, Kook's Stainless headers (thanks CamcoJB), Two HKS Standard Wastegates, HKS Super Sequential BOV, TurboXS Dual Stage Boost Controller, CarbShop prepped 750hp Blow-through

Transmission: TremecTKO, Centerforce DF Clutch, Hays billet flywheel
Driveshaft: Denny's Nitrous-Ready, Mark Williams billet steel yokes
Rear: Ford 9", Auburn Limited Slip, Richmond 3.89's
Wheels: Boyd Turbo-Tech, Front: 17x7 w/ 235/45's, Rear: 17x9.5 w/ 285/40's (FM/5's are in the plans)
Brakes: Baer Track/Touring
Suspension: Stock geometry with Hotchkis stuff, Koni shocks, PST bushings, CalTracs

...Well, you get the point. The list goes on. I did all the design and measuring while my cousin, Sean Burt of LG Motorsports, fabricated all the tubing and exhaust. It's just now running and preliminary dyno numbers are encouraging but there is still a ton of tuning to do. Once everything is dialed in it will come back apart for grinding and coating all the tubes.

I've been lurking around for a while and am also a member on Pro-Touring.com and several local Forums. I'm pleased to introduce myself and my car to you guys.

Did you live in Austin a few years back? We were down there for the boat races about 5-6 years ago (I think) and I remember a Yellow Camaro with those plates at a local cruise / race spot.

69MyWay 03-03-2005 04:39 AM

Very cool!

Yeah, I was there for several years and had this car in a different set-up. It was probably me. I'll be back in the Austin area soon, too. Small world, huh?

very nice job its hard to belive how much space the twin turbo set ups take are you intercooled ? i have the twin turbo set up in the g bodyed olds i thought i had plenty of room until the end of the project and still had to run the engine coolant hose

Y-TRY 05-03-2005 08:34 PM

An intercooler is in the design but not in the car yet. If I get the carb thing figured out I'll get started on measuring for the cooler. Right now there is a section with Y-pipe ahead of the core support. It's designed to come out simply by loosening 3 couplers and the cooler swap right in with no other changes. I was just thinking ahead. Seeing how hot things are getting in there, the cooler may came sooner than later.
