Trying to find more information on these builds
I am looking for some more pictures of both of these cars. Can anyone help me out as to who the builders were or who the new owners are? The paint codes are what I am most interested in finding out. Thanks

The Camaro is a board member's car.
|
The camaro guy lives here in the Houston area, the car show/meets are pretty much over for the year but if I see him I will ask him, The guy who built it is off 59 North near Porter cant think of his name right now...

http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/v.../rIMG_0811.jpg It has Rushforth Wheels and it was at the Optima Invitational so you can probably track him down by doing some searching on here.

Or I could just dig up the article in the October Camaro Performers Mag. 1970 Camaro owned by Mike Yale. Built by Classic Auto pecialties in New Caney Tx. 500hp LS3, T56,DSE Quadra Link, DSE Subframe, mini tubs, Rushforth Whiplash wheels in 18x10 and 18x12, Wilwood six piston front, four piston rear,Vintage Air, Budnick wheel, Corbeau seats, DSE roll bar,....VERY NICE car. The color is Benz Brilliant Silver by Ron Spencer. How's that for info? |
That 70 Camaro is one of the cleanest second gen Camaros that I have seen. Great combo of colors, stance and wheel choice.

  Just what I needed. Thanks

Yep, Eric did his homework but like he said, it's all in Camaro Performers and the Corvette is definitely a digital rendering.
Here's Mike's design as well as some great photos courtesy of DSE http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...YaleCamaro.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...5-2009-040.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...5-2009-044.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...5-2009-074.jpg |
I so want that 2nd gen.
So can I get my TA to sit that low without going with DSE front and rear or is that the secret, four link the rear and aftermarket subframe up front? |

You can get your car that low. Speedtech, DSE and many others can help you get there. |
But can I do it without going with a four or three link and aftermarket front sub? Sorry if my statement earlier was confusing. I was typing faster than normal.
|
I love 2nd gens but right now I'm working on a 68 Camaro and a 63 Nova Conv.
When I get rid of the 68 Camaro project I will get a 70-73 again. My first car was a 70 Camaro built as a trans am racer. tonny |

To answer your question, yes. I think you can get there without going to a new sub and rear. Give Blake a call at Speedtech or Justin at Driverzinc and see what they can offer you. |
1cool 2nd Gen
  :hail: Yea. thats Mike Yales Car.I spent some time talking W/ Mike & his friends at optima What a group of great guys. And his camaro is in the same class as Dale Jr's 2nd.gen.It is that nice. A DSE, Muscle Machine of the year canidate at dallas I belive.I dont know who won. But Mike's Camaro should have.If I could have traded My car for any car at optima I would have taking this one.Great car Mike.Scott

I originally thought the camaro had a little champagn tint in the paint but it is clearly silver. I am trying to find a color for my car, but I will post over in the paint forum.

|
Hey Guy's , thanks for all the kind words about my beater and yes it's a Mercedes Benz color it's actually what they called Brilliant Silver the code is 744, it was a standard color in 06-07 on the E,S,Sl class cars

Thanks ! Kudo's also need to go to Rushforth for the design work as well , i'm in the middle of changing the hood , deck lid , spoiler and the filler to carbon fiber , also installed the carbon fiber A-pillars and the radiator core support filler panel and hopefully knock about a 100 lbs out of it , the paint design is still going to stay the same but the black carbon fiber will replace the black paint and we'll also retain the red outline of the black , BTW I was talking to the folks at Anvil and they have a really cool carbon fiber rear defuser coming for 2nd gens as well as a front spoiler should be really cool !
|
The camaro is the exact same car i have had in my head for some time. Its pretty crazy to see your exact same idea come out on somebody elses car. So that means that the car looks bada$$.
|
Mike, that's one nice Camaro you got there. Loved the article in Camaro Performers, can't wait to see how all that Anvil stuff looks.
|
Thanks I really appreciate it , I'll keep ya posted on the Anvil stuff

You can definetly get the front down to "pavement scrapping" levels with the stock subframe. I used 2" drop spindles and QA1 coilover conversion with heidts 1" narrowed A arms. Was able to run 18x8 with a 245-40-18 with no rub lock to lock. For the back I used a Martz chassis mini 4 link and mini tubbed it myself. After seeing how that suspension was made I have ordered all fab pieces to build my own triangulated 4 link on my current project, 70 nova. http://s141.photobucket.com/albums/r...rancefront.jpg |
Hi Jason,
Okay I've saved your pics for years now and I am about to start cutting up my 2nd gen. I have a couple Questions for you. On your mini-tub did you just move the wheelwell and not touch the frame ?? I love the look of the 295 40 20 on the rear of the car. How low were you able to get the rear ?? Quote:

Not that you need any more, but here are a few more pics that I took at the Optima event... just because I love this car. :D
