The Kramer. http://www.lateral-g.org/events/sema2007/DSC01835.JPG |
The thread on BuiltByBrooks' Tacoma... https://lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=21167
Plus every single project I see on here, especially Marty's SyborgTT, since I'm gonna do a mini truck as well... |
Roger I have no pictures because they are all on this forum. But I have to say we have a bunch of great fabricators on this site .And without going into alot of names I have to say Gonzo (JCG) and Jason (WAR) have really got my attention with their fabrication skills. They are great guy's to talk to, and learn from!! And like I said their are many many more on this site, but these two in my opinion got it going on right now:hail:

Man that ducati is amazing.
Scott the Golden Sub car is awesome. It was in the Rodders Journal a few months ago. There are a ton of pics on the HUB Garage of it. Rodger |
Rodger I agree race dezert is one of my favorites!
I'm fortunate to be 15 miles from the SAC air museum, that has some killer displays of old radial engines! It's amazing the power those motors made 50 - 60 yrs ago... |
Bent Custom & Performance
I met Mark Bohlen thru a customer that had his 67 Pro Street Camaro plumbed before the car came to me for final body & paint.. We painted the 67 & car was in assembly & needed the final details for plumbing & was asked to work with Mark.. When I started going to Mark's shop I noticed that he just was not plumbing cars but also doing alot of custom fabrication work.. Looking @ his work inspired me to take our shop into the next level of what we could do other than just cutting & replacing body panels.. I saw the Cuda & payed careful attention to all his detail of how even the smallest pcs were hand fabricated! We are not yet @ the level of what Mark can do or some of the other fabricators in this forum but I have a big list of equipment we are buying for the year of 2010.. Here are some pics of what got me inspired to branch out & take our fabrication shop to the next level

Under plastic was CHICAYNE..WOW the most beautifully modified car ive ever seen. Dan Holohan nobody has pics of the work you did on Stuarts car, but ive seen it in person..Over the Top Bad A$$ ,Inspirational work. http://i907.photobucket.com/albums/a...despics010.jpg IMG]http://i907.photobucket.com/albums/ac278/kustomcarguy/radridespics017.jpg[/IMG] http://i907.photobucket.com/albums/a...ayneengine.jpg TOM |

I'm a huge fan of race-dezert and all off road and sand car fabrication so it's hard to top that one.
The audio installation this guy builds is absolutely amazing. The molds he makes and way he does carbon fiber is amazing, but most of all the aluminum pieces he makes with only a router. I can only imagine what he would think of with a CNC machine. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/boa...howtopic=57269 |

The MULE and DSE is what got me inspired.
I'm glad I was introduced to Bruning Auto Design. Tim does a great job and is a craftsman. His work can be seen on http://www.bruningautodesign.com/ And on both nomads and the 57 f150 Truck and the 33 double dozen to name a few http://www.stevesautorestorations.com/index.php |
Hey Roger... Put some of your stuff on here your no slouch your self. :hail: Some of the new guy's may not have seen your fab skills...

Well Rodger wont do it so I will since the work yall have done is absolutely inspirational to me at least!

young gun, you beat me to it,
roger the work you did on your truck is unbelievable! but there is many: bent fab, recovery room, roadster shop.... |
Thanks guys, but I define inspirational as something somebody else does that makes you want to turn off the computer and go back out in to a cold shop and work to sharpen you skills that much more. ( Welding, Machine work, Solidworks, Tube bending, wiring, etc) It could be something that is not your style of car or project, but the work done on that item is so unreal it motivates you to do better. Or it could be a Pro-touring 69 camaro as long as it motivates you to want to improve your skills.
Enough people, including myself, self promote on this site, but I just wanted to see work that inspires no matter your skill level. Rodger |

Attachment 21624This is killer and simple.

Rodger knows how to push my fabrication buttons, so I'll add my two cents.
INSPIRATION-What drives you to go out to the shop or even outdoors and build it better. Better because most of us, if not all of us, want it to better next time. Faster, cleaner, lighter, smoother, cooler, but just plain better. Not to impress anyone else, but for our own self. We want to make it better. I will be the first to admit sometimes its hard to be inspired. Yes, there are alot of cool cars and trucks out there. But I'm not talking about cool. I'm talking about "What inspires you". Inspires you to make what ever you're building better. A couple of years ago I wanted to be able to TIG weld like the Indy car guys who had a shop down the street. The Indy Car shop was kind of an inspiration, but was almost to far out there in my mind. Anyway I went to my local community college started taking welding classes. I can MIG, but I wanted to weld like the big boys. Practice practice practice, four days a week, every night. Today I can TIG, but the pond of guys who can TIG weld is unbelievable, I jumped into a pond where I'm a peice of dirt. My point is I was inspired to weld better and today I'm still inspired, but you might be suprised who is providing the inspiration. Go back to the first page and look at Tom Hanna's fabrication. Now go back and look again. That should be enough inspiration to turn off the computer and go back to the shop do something, anything, just work on something. Yes, we all have piles of parts that didn't work out, but the next time I built it, it was better. And maybe I even tried to use Tom Hanna's single sheer idea on my next bracket (did you notice the F9 bolts and button head stainless steel in the correct application). Rodger is not going to be inspired by his own work (which is why he didn't post any of his own stuff). I would bet that most guys (top builders too) are inspired buy someone else's work. So post up the fabrication work that inpires YOU. The fabrication that makes you drop everything go back to the shop. If you have some time, and I do mean a lot of time (grab a bowl of popcorn) and want to see some fabrication porn...(and engineering porn) http://www.race-dezert.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31417 Mick |
Good thread Roger,You were right about looking at the bulkhead parts on the streamliner.Hanna's work is so good it looks easy.Put some more up there from that trip.

Yup just spent an hour and a half on this one! The fab work is incredible!!!:wow: Ironworks isn't too shabby either    I am a fan of the 62 and 63 novas you’re working on. I have a 62 nova in the works, nothing much yet. I am paying for college right now, it will be a while (Mechanical Engineer):willy: -Austin |
Heres one that inspired me towards chassis design until I found out the cost LOL
http://www.kirkhammotorsports.com/book_aoe/ When I first met Rodger he told me that one of his clients got some inspiration towards the design on a frame from a constructed steel bridge. Hanna's work is over the top! And the Sub car Scott posted is a metal masterpiece right down to the floor inserts |
Heres one more. John's fab work on manifolds is top notch
www.marcellamanifolds.net/ |
WOW Rodger and I posted the same link for fabrication, to weird.
But I do remember at SEMA, Rodger and I and Eric and Garage Dog crawling for an hour under a offroad race truck looking at fabrication...none of us wanted to walk away, we kept pointing and saying... Mick |
Excellent topic Rodger:thumbsup:
So much stuff i have never seen before. This book is truly "art of fabricating" :willy: http://www.kirkhammotorsports.com/book_aoe/aoe_22.pdf |

Rodger, this is Brian M. Nova? WOW that is great. I still want to see your truck up close. I have always liked to look at fabricators ideas and work. I tried doing fabrication but I don't have the patients for it and give up to fast. http://www.race-dezert.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31417 is insane and full of ideas. |

Great thread Roger, for a metal guy this is as good as looking at Victoria Secret models.
Well Almost. |

This guy does some amazing bead roller stuff: http://www.hubgarage.com/mygarage/Bi...vehicles/11280 |
WOW !!!! This thread is awesome.
I would have never thought I would be insperational to someone else. Thank you very much Cris (I think I'm going to cry). I cant' even start the list of people and places that inspire me but I will try. My biggest inperation had to be my Mom. I lost her to cancer 6 years ago. If it were'nt for her I would'nt be writing this. She always taught me to do my best keep my head up and don't let anything hold you back. I think about her every day and when things are tuff (every day) I think about her more. That's what keeps me motivated and to never give up ! One of my favorite lines " Keep doing better than your best and never letting it rest" As for all the talent in this world. Bobby Walden (good friend) one of the best metal men around he did alot of the under hood work on Shicayne and all the work on Sniper. Rad rides. Tom Hannan(Metalshapers.org), Craig Naff(Golden Sub),D.S.E, Some of my local friends Nick @ Red Zone (cage in F-Bomb) Tom Nelson of N.R.E. Every metal shaping book avalible to man(I hear there's a huge new one coming out). Ironworks, Pinkees rod shop, Roadster Shop, Steve Moal, Snick's, Rodders Journal, All the different friends and builders on Lat-G. Jesse James, to see this guy build bikes at the right time and place in history and to take it to a level and style no one else has. Thats a huge motivation and inspiration. There are so many more out there. If you have the motivation and drive like I do and the rest of us out there we will all be that much better at what we do. It will keep bringing out more talent that you thought you never had because you were inspired and motived by the people, projects, and ideas they created with there own two hands. Thanks again Roger for getting us inspired  Mark Bohlen |
