I picked up a Gen VI 454 marine engine...
 
Going in a 67 Impala Fastback 700R4.

Self contained radiator...No salt issues!

Stock 330hp, roller cam, forged crank.

ONLY 300 HRS!!!

I want to do a "Mild" rebuild 450-475 hp range...

Any advice would be very, very appreciated...

I have some parts for it including a hot roller cam and oil pan that should fit your chassis.

you can easily get that kind of power. Here is a good write up on Mark IV and Gen V and Gen VI rat motor differences.

Can this much power (450-475hp) be made with a new cam, 9.8 to 1 Pistons, Edelbrock RPM airgap Intake and 750 cfm carb?

Looking for pump gas, daily driver reliability, with the stock heads...

I'm a school teacher w/ a laughable budget!!!

Is the cam a streetable cam?

Yep, I sent you the specs by PM. My engine had 9.5-1 compression and Dart Pro1 heads. Here is the chassis dyno.

Are the heads on this stock motor capable of a 450-475 hp build?
 
I think they are oval port but not sure, the intake is still on the motor, is there any way to tell externally?

Pull a valve cover and read the casting number there - just do a quick Google of that number...

Make sure it is not a reverse running motor. To keep a bigger boat going straight they reversed I think the starboard motor on some boats so the props were spinning into each other.

Called COUNTER ROTATION --

Usually done with the transmission rather than the motor.

I suppose some do it that way. I have a friend who has a 9M Trojan and the motor runs the opposite direction. The reason I brought it up was someone on NastyZ28 had bought a motor. And after installing the motor and hooking up the battery he noticed the motor cranking the wrong direction. He pulled the cap and the rotor was going the wrong direction. Long story short the motor had to come out.

It was a very good "heads up" --- I wasn't trying to counter you but rather just saying that not all marine applications do it this way. So hopefully he is lucky.

LOL I didn't think you were. That one little incident was sticking in my head for some reason. :lol: I'm sure it is pretty rare.

I would think a cam and starter swap would change it back to a regular rotation unless my foggy brain is missing something.:rofl:

Or do the Tommy Ivo thing and run a couple of them - counter rotating...

I don't think any of Ivo's multi-engine setups ever employed counter-rotation.
